What's fresh? New offerings from Slappy Cakes!

12:40 PM

If you are to visit Portland, Oregon in the future, I'm sure you will not miss this popular all-day breakfast joint that has become very popular here in the Philippines as well, because of its "Make-your-own-pancake" idea.
You can flip pancakes right at your table on their built-in griddles while enjoying dishes made from-scratch.
The kids will love the hands-on setting where it's okay for them to play with the food!
My family and I have already visited their branch in Eastwood City last year and my kids definitely had a blast flipping pancakes.
They made letters and animals using the pancake batter in 8oz. bottle which was flavored in buttermilk.
The staff were accommodating and fast even when the place is crowded.
Recently, i was invited to try out the new offerings at Slappy Cakes, SM Aura branch, with other bloggers.
I just love the interior of this pancake house.
I think, for me, the restaurant's interior truly plays a vital role of any successful restaurant or bar.
Here, they made it rustic to contemporary and everything in between, which is my sole choice for my kitchen.
The feel is very similar to a country's diner--very cozy.
I love the booth seating made specially for customers' comfort and privacy levels while dining for a more intimate seating experience.
The only downside-- no ambient music.
A 60s to 70s soundtrack would have been a plus to my way of thinking.
And yes, Slappy Cakes now offers the Pancake Sampler which includes a smaller servings of chocolate , peanut butter, and red velvet flavored pancake batters (priced at 350 ), allowing diners to taste , cook, and play with more batter flavors in just one order!
When i became a mom, my creativity was unleashed.
My life did an amazing 180-degree turn but I'm totally grateful for my kids.
I became one of them.
Happy-go-lucky.
They also offer more than just pancakes, of course.
They serve a line-up of all- American burgers which include the Classic Burger, the Cheese Burger and the Slappy Sliders.
We have tried the Slappy Sliders that is a combination of 3 small but tasty hamburgers.
How small, you asked?
Well, it's similar to the dinner rolls you buy in the grocery but of course, these sliders are the bomb!

If you want something not too heavy in the belly, this Potato Wedge Salad is the choice.
It has romaine lettuce, potato wedges in mayonnaise dressing topped with bacon bits.
You need to try this because it's totally tasty and it's my favorite!

Slappy Cakes also gave a twist to the normal scrambled egg with their Cheesy Chorizo Scramble.
This dish contains chorizo, onion, cheddar cheese, and eggs topped with cilantro pesto served with toast.

Havana Rice is new on their menu. It has ground beef , plantain, and sunny side egg.

Maple Glazed Pork chop is served with red oinion and rice.
It was a bit sweet and oily for my liking so it's really not my top choice. But it's yummy, don't get me wrong.

There is a surefire favorite which is The Elvis, with it's peanut butter, bacon, and banana with honey in sourdough bread.
One blogger told me that this was featured in the movie WHAT IF so I think the king's favorite is really a must try.
