LG SUPPORTS MARAWI.

Leading tech innovator LG Electronics has donated 200 computer monitors and health kits, comprised of roughly 30,000 personal care products, to support the rehabilitation and recovery efforts in Marawi.
LG is providing computer monitors and day-to-day necessities, such as soap, toothbrushes and toothpastes provided by LG Household & Health Care in Seoul, to 46 of the southern city’s public schools and its students. The electronics company is working with the Department of Education (DepEd), to determine which schools will benefit from this donation, and to ensure that LG’s giving efforts are both effective and efficient.

During the turnover ceremony held at the LG Philippines office on April 19, Mr. Inkwun Heo, Managing Director of LG Electronics Philippines, said that the new computer monitors will help the Marawi youth learn and sharpen the skills necessary to get ahead in life. “Every day we see how technology is reshaping the world around us. At LG, we believe that computer access and information technology are increasingly important for students to be more productive and valuable to society.”

The donations were turned over to DepEd ARMM Special Programs and Projects Assistant Secretary Alfhadar Pajiji, who, in expressing his gratitude, said, “These monitors will surely be of big help in reinforcing DepEd’s national computerization program for both the learners and the teachers in Marawi. It is also our pleasure to be receiving these hygiene kits from LG Household & Health Care. This [donation] is important in our advocacies for wellness and healthcare.” DepED ARMM will facilitate the distribution of these desktop monitors and healthcare kits to the 46 schools.

Also present at the ceremony were local government officials and CSR executives from LG headquarters in Seoul, led by Mr. Park HeonYoung, President of LG Household & Health Care, who said, “It is our pleasure to collaborate with LG Electronics Philippines and to donate these products to the city of Marawi. LG Household & Health Care will never stop supporting the Filipino people.”

In addition, employees of LG Electronics Philippines made individual contributions to raise funds for the public school teachers of Marawi who tirelessly encourage their students to still pursue education once the newly rehabilitated schools open in June.

LG has always striven to make an impact through corporate social responsibility programs that promote social and economic prosperity, with initiatives focused on bettering the lives of Filipinos through healthcare, education and sustainable community development. In 2013, LG Electronics donated USD 500,000 (approximately PHP 26 million) to the victims of supertyphoon Yolanda, and installed solar panels worth USD 100,000 (approximately PHP 5.2 million) in major evacuation centers in Tacloban City.
