MOVIES for OCTOBER 2013

Halloween events 2013 ( For the kids and the kids at heart )

It's that spooky time of the year again when kids get to choose and dress up as Gargoyles and Witches and go hunt for some candies in the middle of the night.  Some of the events I've gathered are listed below so you might want to check them out. It's a great way to bond with the whole family!

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

Movie Review : OGGY AND THE COCKROACHES movie

My kids got a surprise movie treat from me yesterday but sadly they preferred OGGY and THE COCKROACHES.

The Walking Dead season 4

8 months!
8 freakin' months!
And now they are finally airing again !
With less than 2 weeks away  from seeing the highly anticipated return of THE WALKING DEAD, AMC is finally releasing photos/footages whatsoever and everyone is truly excited about the groundbreaking drama.
Unfortunately, Those videos cannot be viewed here in the philippines.

Movie Review : PRISONERS

I got a text from a movie blogger friend two nights ago, inviting me to a free movie screening night of PRISONERS but honestly, I was not familiar with that movie.
Didn't get the chance to check on reviews and what is it about because I was out the whole day.

Anyway, the story started in a typical family KELLER and GRACE DOVER ( Hugh Jackman and Maria Bello) hanging out with good o'l neighbors FRANKLIN and NANCY BIRCH ( Terrence Howard and Viola Davis) with their kids ANNA DOVER ( Erin Gerasim ) , RALPH DOVER ( Dylan Minette ) and JOY BIRCH ( Kyla-Drew Simmons ) during thanksgiving.

Anna and Joy went out to play but they never came back.  DETECTIVE LOKI ( Jake Gyllenhaal ) was the one appointed to investigate their disappearance. Although the only lead was the parked RV right outside their home, primary suspect , the driver, ALEX JONES ( PAul Dano ) with a mind of a 10 year old kid was not put to jail for lack of evidence. Frustration sets in. Keller Dover did what every father would do. Find the malefactor.

Written by Aaron Guzikowski, Prisoners' script is superb not just because of the twists and turns of the plot but because of the invisible mechanics of the screenplay. The nail-biting two-handed story follows both keller and Loki on different grounds searching for the missing kids as the film glides back and forth between the 2 sets perfectly.

The true question was , is torture ever justifiable? A gruesome option deployed to every parent's worst nightmare.

The cast was truly remarkable. Hats off to Hugh and Jake. Both equally strong. The film is one of the most intense so far. You will never forget it.

Yeah, it should've been a 5, but it left me hanging in the end and talk about the gruesome way of abducting and torturing.. 4 stars for me.

Dengue Tops Moms Most Feared Diseases

Together with the common flu, typhoid, hepatitis, among others, dengue is up there in the list as one of the most dreaded diseases that moms worry their kids may contract. Unlike the other illnesses mentioned, dengue doesn’t have a vaccine that can provide immediate protection.

Prevalent in tropical countries such as the Philippines, dengue affects people differently. While others may stop at having flu-like symptoms such as high fever and muscle-and-joint pains and rash, others suffer life-threatening complications. A few succumb to Dengue Shock Syndrome, in which the patient’s white blood cells drop to a dangerous level, leading to internal bleeding. In some of these cases, dengue becomes fatal.

Help your child cope with lice-triggered bullying

Having lice poses bigger problems for Filipino kids than just an itchy scalp—in fact, it can result in psychological trauma that may have long-term effects on a child’s mental health.
