Samsung introduced latest range of awesome Washing Machines

I recently went to the launching of the latest range of Samsung Philippines' Washing Machines.
Undoubtedly, "I have two hands" is the perfect title for the event.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years now and for the past years, we've already tried several brands of washing machines.
We only purchased those cheap ones.
This time I told him we will invest in a good washer but obviously it is not an easy task, considering the wide array of manufacturers currently on the market.
The only concern for us moms is how energy efficient the washing machine is.
Or how the washing machine will save us more time( having 3 kids, well, I need more time with them definitely)
And of course, the durability.

Thankfully, Samsung has addressed all these concerns and
Product manager for Samsung Washing Machines , Ms Leigh Montemayor introduced us the latest from Samsung.

Top Load Fully Automatic Washing Machine WA16F759
This is a 16kg Fully Automatic washer so it's perfect for big families.
No more manual washing.
Just choose one  correct setting and voila! the machine will do the work for you.
It has a Wobble technology that protects delicate fabrics from friction damage without compromising washing performance.
The Wobble pulastor’s unique structure generates a dynamic, multi-directional washing flow to prevent tangles, twists and knots while thoroughly cleaning clothes.
The WA16F759’s Digital Inverter technology ensures durability and saves on energy as well.
The inner layer is a diamond embossed-shape that prevents the clothes from sticking to the side of the machine.
It also has a magic filter that will basically remove those unwanted lint completely.
Everything is collected.

The other top load is the Samsung Fully Automatic Top Load Washer WA4000HH
For moms who pre-wash heavily soiled clothes, this is a smart choice.
This all-in-one washing machine features practical innovations such as the ActivDualWash,
on top of Wobble Technology, that allows laundry to be done with less time, efforts and worry.
The ActivDualWash feature equips the machine with a wash sink with a built-in side water jet.
The wash sink provides a convenient and dedicated space to hand-wash delicate items and pre-wash heavily soiled clothes before regular wash.
The built-in side water can be started and stopped with a simple press of a button for maximum convenience.

Front Load Fully Automatic Washing Machine WW5000 series
This is the most premium among the 3 models.
This one has the Eco-Bubble technology that dissolves detergent soap twice faster than a regular Front Load.
The Bubble Generator will combine the air, water and detergent that will be converted into a frothy/foamy substance that can now penetrate the fabric easily.
It only takes 40 seconds to dissolve the detergent.
More or less 30 minutes for the regular ones.
Truly an energy and time saving machine.

Mostly in all Samsung Washing Machines, they have built-in digital inverter that saves on electricity. The Front Load in fact only consumes 2 pesos per hour so you do the math.
For the durability part, well, Samsung Washing Machines have 11 years warranty.

Picking out a new washer doesn't have to be a complicated choice.
Think thoroughly what is and isn't important to help you make the best buying decision.

A Samsung Washing Machine will definitely be on top of my wishlist!

Have you bought a Washing Machine recently?
What factors did you consider?
Please share them and let us know :)

World Toilet Day 2014 celebration with over 1M pledges for clean toilets

When I asked my mom to take care of the kids for a few hours because I was invited to be part of the World Toilet Day celebration, she was like--
"hmm, are you still going?really?"-- "Can you handle that event?"
Yes,I ..may..have a teeny weeny public toilet phobia.
Okay, huge.
I tried as much as I could to limit the use of public toilet.
I know it's weird and it can cause pain and might damage the system in the long term but haven't you heard that public toilets are breeding grounds for bacteria ,people!
Unsanitized , dirty toilets are just too much for me.
Eww!

My short film review : You're Not You

"Why is it that we want the ones that don’t see us, instead of the ones who do?"

When I received an invite to see the premier of You're Not You, I really thought the film was another sappy romance story with completely unrealistic dialogue..
I didn't watch the trailer so i really had no idea what the story's about.
But yeah, You’re Not You really IS a love story, a non-romantic love story between two women, which they shared  the most intense, pure form of friendship like no other.
Before she was diagnosed with ALS (known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease that damages motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord), the successful, classical pianist Kate (Hilary Swank) used to have a perfect life, with an incredible husband Evan (Josh Duhamel), with incredible friends, a happy home indeed.

However, when ALS kicked in, her life did a 180-degree turn.
She became very weak and unable to play the piano nor hold a salad knife.
She could barely walk and needed a nanny to assist her.
Then came Bec (Emmy Rossum) and the rest is history.

There was difficulty at times understanding what kate was saying.
Thankfully Bec was there to interpret the whole time.
I just love Bec. I love Emmy Rossum.
I love this film, because you’ll get to learn a lot of remarkable things from the journey of their friendship.
You’ll witness moments of struggle, support, and hope that will make you think the importance of truly living.
A heartwarming film, you'll cry buckets.

You're Not You
Starring :  Hilary Swank , Emmy Rossum , Josh Duhamel , Marcia Gay Harden , Loretta Devine , Frances Fisher , Ernie Hudson , Ali Larter
Directed by : George C. Wolfe
You’re Not You the movie is distributed and released in the Philippines by Octoarts Films International and will be shown in theaters November 26, 2014 nationwide.

Midea’s Microwave Oven is the trusted brand for moms

Homemakers and food lovers everywhere have two important things that they always keep in mind: how to prepare a table of delicious goodies for their guests in the quickest way possible, and at the same time maintaining that great taste.
Given the growing health consciousness among even the most ardent culinary enthusiasts, the nutritional value of the dishes served is also a factor that is taken into account.

The answer lies with Midea’s new Microwave ovens because they possess three aspects helpful to both cooks and consumers and which, when seen collectively together,  may be difficult to find in other brands.

The first, naturally is speed.
A basic meal can be prepared for immediate dining in just 90 seconds or less than two minutes.
For tired professionals coming home after a long day’s work or weekend hosts who will be entertaining their buddies, the Midea ovens can heat ready-to-eat dishes or warm bowls of soup or sliced meat.
Midea’s new microwave ovens likewise preserve the nutrients in certain food or dishes that are easily prepared.
They remove the need for frying, which in turn removes about 10 percent less fat on the meat such as pork, kaldereta or chicken that is being heated.
The meat comes out leaner, richer, and less conducive to the cholesterol build-up can lead to heart-related illnesses.

“Midea has always manufactured our appliances, including our ovens, with the good of the consumer in mind,” says Mr. Phillip F. Trapaga, General Manager.
“We take into account both the one preparing the food as well as the one who will eat them.
The efficient and speedy way of cooking is, of course, the main objective.
This becomes even more important during the busier occasions when people are juggling food preparation, shopping, errands, with all the other everyday tasks that they have to do.
Midea’s microwave ovens make it quicker and easier for them to heat meat for dinner at home or lunch in the office.
They also reduce the number of hours needed to prepare dishes for parties and events, or when guests just drop by unexpectedly.”

The advantages offered by the Midea microwave ovens put to rest the usual but shaky myths that cooking food with microwave ovens can be risky to both cook and consumer.
The Midea microwave owner who has experienced first-hand the health and hygiene advantages of the appliance is well aware that no such  illnesses arise from  supposed food exposure to radiation or  unnecessary chemicals.

Midea’s microwave oven goes a step further by showing consumers everywhere that this particular appliance is an invaluable support in the kitchen:  it helps to prolong the duration of a particular food while ensuring that it be heated or cooked efficiently and cleanly.
At the same time, it preserves the nutrients and other elements that keep the consumer and food lover healthy.
Midea’s microwave ovens come in three models:  the 20L Mechanical Model, P2,995; the 20L Digital Microwave Oven, P3,695; and the 30L Digital Microwave Oven,  P5,995.

Midea microwave ovens are now available in leading appliance centers like Abenson, Western Appliances in Metro Manila and other appliance centers in Visayas and Mindanao.

Here's 10 Gift Ideas from The Mind Museum

Considering that we celebrate an extended holiday season--starting from the ber months to late January—you would think people would have enough time to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts that are well thought out.
That's hardly ever the case, though.

Year after year, people rush to stores at the last minute, grabbing run-of-the-mill mugs, picture frames, toiletries, and what have you.
Fun, right?

Let's face it; getting an ordinary gift doesn't exactly usher in the spirit of the season.
Why not wrap something remarkable?
If your loved ones are that special, you'd think of giving them the stars—something they clearly deserve.
You can't exactly give them that, but a close alternative is made possible by
The Mind Museum—along with other unique gifts that not only add a twist to your usual holiday flavor, they also inspire learning and further celebrate the season of giving.

1. The Scientific Date:
How about a date in an artsy but science-themed gallery, or stargazing in cozy couches in a custom-made planetarium?

2. Name the Stars after Your Loved Ones:
Do you know that you can literally leave your mark in The Mind Museum by naming one of their virtual exhibits?
You can leave your names or your loved ones’ on digital exhibits found in the different galleries in the Museum, through a fixed donation that come with e-certificates.
Imagine the delight of seeing your family’s name imprinted on the virtual stars that make up a constellation, or name a specific kind of dinosaur that inhabits a virtual era in history.
What’s more heart-warming is that all proceeds for this program go to supporting the institutions’ project of giving free museum visits to public school kids.
(Virtual exhibits’ price ranges from Php1,000 to Php5,000, depending on your choice of show.
For more information, visit http://exhibits.themindmuseum.org.)

3. The Key to Endless Discovery:
A year-round, all-day admission to the first world-class science museum in the country—how does that sound?
Interactive exhibits, a thoughtfully designed planetarium, meticulously laid-out 3D shows, and exciting science demonstrations await your lucky gift recipient.
The Mind Museum’s Unlimited Science Pass also gives free admission to over 300 worldwide science museums, discounts on travelling exhibition tickets, birthday packages, and purchases inside The Mind Museum Store. And because the institution always interlinks its efforts with expanding the knowledge of today’s generation, this unli-pass directly supports free museum passes for underprivileged kids.
(For a group of four or more, avail the Unlimited Science Pass for only Php2,250/pax.
Visit https://www.themindmuseum.org/science-alive/63/membership-program for more information)

4. All for Science, All for Love:
To celebrate the holidays in a different, more meaningful way, why not sponsor a trip for public school kids this Christmas?
You can even ask your family or friends to join you in spearheading this project to further enrich the sense of wonder of these young ones.
Don’t worry, The Mind Museum’s doors are open to plan and accomplish this advocacy of embracing and sharing the true spirit of the season.

Teach your young ones the basics of gardening, without having to worry about landscaping your backyard, with these innovative plant miniatures!
You can either let them grow the Sweet Leaf, which grows leaves that be used as a natural substitute for sugar; the Mini-Melons that will actually produce sweet mini cantaloupes in less than 2 months; or get really out-of-this-word with the Curious George Outer Space Adventure Garden that will even allow them to experiment right in their mini pots!

Reasons why you should invest in CordLife CordBlood banking

I was not aware of Cord blood banking until after i gave birth to my 3rd child a few years back.
Some of my friends had already been given information about cord blood banking by their doctor and they even shared them to me but because i was hard-headed and thinking neither of us had any family history of any medical condition, it wasn’t something to be considered.

But After hearing good things about cord blood banking in an event last week,I felt a hint of regret for not considering it in the first place.

Here are some of the reasons why you should consider Cord Blood banking :

- Can be life-saving

Ms. Delamar Arias has explained that cord blood banking can truly be a life-saving especially for families who got only one child.
The moment when the child needs something medically, you will then find for a sibling and when you don't have one, that's the time cord blood banking will come to the rescue.
- Peace of Mind
Mommy Precious Lara Quigaman said that she has been researching about the benefits of investing in CordLife and she found out that it's truly stable and secure.
Though it can be quite expensive, it's worth the cost.
Investing in your child's life and health is always more important.
Anyway there are available packages or flexible payment plans for you. So no hassle in that part.
- Can treat diseases
Ms. Nina Corpuz has mentioned that she has interviewed several doctors on her show regarding cord blood and their benefits and one of them is that the stem cells found in a cord blood is truly powerful that it can treat several diseases like leukemia. Mostly cancer .
2005 was the first ever cord blood transplant in the Philippines FYI.

About CordLife
Cordlife collects, processes and stores cord blood stem cells which may later become potential source material for lifesaving treatment. They provide families with high quality cord blood processing and storage services to protect their children's cord blood stem cells.

Their facilities are built in line with world-class standards such as American Association of Blood Banks, Therapeutic Goods Administration, and ISO.

Since their inception in Singapore in 2001,they have established a rigorous quality system and track record of clinically reliable cord blood banking service that was first certified by Singapore's Ministry of Health, and subsequently accredited in 2005 by the world's most recognised quality standards in cord blood banking - American Association of Blood Banks.

Children's book launching of “Ang Alamat ng Matibay” by BEAR BRAND

As part of its continuing efforts to help nourish generations of Filipino families to good health,
BEAR BRAND Powdered Milk Drink has added a new dimension to its TIBAY campaign with the launch of its 1st children’s book entitled Ang Alamat ng Matibay, which highlights the importance of tibay ng kalooban.

A simple and beautifully illustrated story that teaches children how tibay ng loob can help them overcome obstacles in order to achieve their goals,
Ang Alamat ng Matibay revolves around the kind and loving Mina, a child beset with fears.

When her teddy bear, which she regards as her best friend, was stolen, the ever respectful Mina goes on a search mission in an enchanted world where she was forced to conquer all her fears and thus develop tibay ng loob.
As she embarks on her adventure, she not only finds her lost best friend, she also develops a friendship with the toy thief Anino.

This is part of BEAR BRAND Powdered Milk Drink’s long-running Tibay campaign, which espouses Tibay ng Katawan, Kalooban, at Isipan.

“Today’s parents regard tibay ng loob as an important factor to help their kids succeed in life.  But honing tibay ng loob among children must start when they are still young in order to prepare them for the challenges that life brings,” explained Willy de Ocampo, Nestlé Philippines Team Lead for BEAR BRAND.

BEAR BRAND, in partnership with The Storytelling Project, Klasrum ng Pag-asa, Art Attack, and National Bookstore will donate 10,000 copies of the book to select public schools and partner organizations.
The book will also be available in selected branches of National Bookstore starting December 15, 2014.

“We would like to promote tibay ng loob to as many Filipino school children as possible and our partner-organizations will help us reach out to them,” Jojo dela Cruz, Nestlé Philippines Business Executive Manager for Dairy, Health and Nutrition Solution, explained.

“By providing schools and communities with copies of the book, we hope to foster among school children the importance of strength of character and strength of will, values that they can bring with them as they journey through life.  We hope that through Ang Alamat ng Matibay, we can help mold the future leaders of our country.”

Metascreen, a guard against ‘sudden death

Nearly one baby every hour each day dies abruptly.
An estimated 7,000 babies die each year without warning.
Parents are left clueless after the death as the possible causes remain unknown even after undergoing autopsy. All because of the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
SIDS is the unexplained death of babies usually occurring during sleep and striking under unexpected circumstances.

Even a healthy one-year old baby may be a victim of the condition which is often simply attributed to physical and environmental factors.
Studies have shown that babies with physical conditions including brain abnormalities, low birth weight and respiratory infection have higher risk of dying an unexplained death.
Still some studies indicated that an infant’s sleeping position may also be a cause.
Babies sleeping on their stomach side are more prone as they may suffer more difficulty in breathing. Those sleeping on soft surfaces and with their parents are also at risk.
To address the problem, various newborn screening tests are being employed as a means of identifying inborn disorders.
For instance, dried blood spot screening, usually available in hospitals, can effectively screen the newborn of many metabolic disorders.
This type of screening, however, can only detect less than 50 metabolic disorders.

Given that there are far more metabolic disorders that place an infant in danger of SIDS, a new process called Metascreen, an expanded, advanced and non-invasive metabolic screening service, was developed.

Metascreen can detect up to more than 100 inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) through a painless method that uses the child’s urine sample collected after 48 hours of birth.
IEM is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the lack of enzymes needed in the body to maintain the normal body metabolic temperature.

This condition eventually causes the build-up of toxic substances and a deficiency of the critical ones. And because this may remain undetected during the infant stages of the baby, it poses as a silent threat to every newborn.

Aside from causing sudden death, the disease may also trigger serious developmental issues and lifelong disease, if left untreated.
Research showed that 10% of the SIDS cases can significantly be attributed to these inherited metabolic defects.
In the Philippines, this comprehensive newborn screening is offered by Cordlife Medical Philippines, the country’s most chosen cord blood and cord lining banking institution.  Metascreen is offered free to all mothers who bank their baby’s cord blood and cord lining at Cordlife.

“Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a serious and unseen condition that contributes to infant mortality,” said Dr. Arvin Faundo, Medical Director, Cordlife Medical Philippines.
“Metascreen offers mothers the chance to reduce this incidence to secure the future and the wellbeing of their newborn.”

The screening test is performed by the Hong Kong Screening Centre Limited, a company that provides early and accurate detection of metabolic disorders in newborn babies.
“Here in the Philippines, we take pride in providing our clients with the best facilities to ensure that Cordlife is something they can depend on especially when it comes to securing the health of their newborn,” Faundo added.

Cordlife Medical Philippines, is a branch of Cordlife Group Limited which owns and operates processing and cryopreservation storage facilities across Asia including in Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Indonesia.

The Group’s processing and storage facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong, and India are also AABB, formerly known as American Association of Blood Banks, accredited, meeting the gold standard of private cord blood banking.
Cordlife Group also has a direct investment in China Cord Blood Corporation, one of the top operators in China.

Mondelez and World Vision partnered in reaching One Goal to help Filipino children

Like most parents my age, I have memories of childhood much more different from the way my children are growing up today but i'm extremely thankful I was part of the the 80's to 90's era.

In my elementary-school years, my friends and I spent a lot of afternoons outside playing cops and robbers using our BMX bikes and would never get sick.
I could smell the burning leaves from the backyard all day long and never would I have an asthma attack.
Gadgets were used exclusively inside the office and we played on the original play-station:
BMX bikes, swing-sets , my favorite monkey bars and good ol’ mother nature!
Yes, we were way healthier back then because of active play.
The sun was our best friend.
With World Vision ambassador, Nikki Gil
"I think "One Goal"will be able to teach our children things that might not learn inside their classrooms. They would be able to apply these things, these values such as sportsmanship , teamwork, perseverance.
I'm all for it because as a World Vision ambassador for 10 years, i'm always on constant search in ways how to enrich the kids with skills outside the classroom. For only 600 pesos a month, you can sponsor a child , send a child to school. Be part of this campaign"
Physical activity is truly an essential component of a healthy lifestyle for a child.
That is why Mondelez Philippines has partnered with World Vision for their "One Goal" program.
To encourage more children to go out, be active , play for joy and learn lifelong skills.
This can also help students learn important values and achieve good nutrition.

Back in 2013, Mondelez Philippines and World Vision launched an initiative called Eats For Joys.
It was a call for families to enjoy good meals and snacks made with the many products of Mondelez' partner establishments like Tang, Cadbury, Oreo, Eden cheese and Toblerone.
And by enjoying these snacks, consumers also got to made donations to World Vision. Cool huh?

After a year of enjoying and sharing the blessings, starting today will be the culmination of Eats for Joy initiative and the beginning of the new chapter for a new partnership between Mondelez Philippines and World Vision.

The point collective from the initiative will be used to support Asia-wide "One Goal" program which aims to help children learn important values and good nutrition. Through sports like Soccer and Volleyball.

5 years ago, For Every Child campaign was born.
But unfortunately , Philippines was not included. The only main focus campaign was on Africa , China and India.
Now, World Vision is doing everything they can to include the Philippines and help Filipino children.

Thankfully, different organizations in the Philippines will cooperate with this partnership.
That includes partnering with Dept. of Education , Dept. of Health , Different individuals and groups and corporate partners.

In Celebrating 2 years of partnership ,they will be leveling-up and entering sports to tackle the issue on malnutrition.
Did you know that Millions of children in Asia alone enter the world of disadvantage compared to children elsewhere?
In Australia, they even got healthier cows compared to the children here in Asia. Sad isn't it?

1 part of Asia's children under the age of 5 are underweight.
We're already lacking in height as well in weight.
No wonder the fighting skill in the sports area is also weak.

100 million children in Asia are petite.
They're stunted because they do not consume the nutrients needed to develop properly.

The importance of gathering as much support as possible is crucial in order to widely distribute information and convey the message properly.

Through "One Goal", concerted effort made could really be successful.

Take note : The problem does not focus on  malnutrition alone but also obesity.
"One Goal" is here to give opportunities for both girls and boys to enter into sports.
The vision is by 2022, the Philippines would have a stronger team.
Engaging in schools, different communities and barangays could really help beef-up the kids.
The aim is to mobilize and inspire 1.4 billion football fans in Asia to tackle malnutrition.
47 countries across Asia, united with "One Goal".

AFC or Asian Football confederation covers 47 countries .
This can be a platform to raise more funds.
The joint projects would have sports clinics nationewide for the next 6 months, especially targeting schools in Manila and also in Baseco Tondo.

You are all invited to the launching of "One Goal" campaign of World Vision to be held at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila this coming November 28-30 , targeting 300 kids from poor communities.

Mondelez Philippines has a program that has been running since 2011.
Through them, they have already adopted 6 elementary schools in the country and provided nutrition, teacher training and facilities improvement initiative.

The successful launching of Eats For Joy campaign last year accumulated enough funds to support the next project which is the "One Goal" Program and i really hope everyone would support this campaign.

A visit to the Nest Modern Table and Bar in BGC

One of my guilty pleasures is to constantly look for hidden gems that will deliver a real lasting food remembrance.
I believe that after a long tiring day at work, eating is a quick fix and can become an essential part of your de-stressing program.
May it be healthy or not, that alone can relax the mind i assure you
( well, it worked for me ).

SM City Sucat celebrates a Yo Ho Holiday

Pirates are awesome and popular to kids, especially since Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movie series came on to the big screen.
I even got my little boy a pirate costume from SM just in case he wanted to wear one and pair it with the "99 bottles of beer on the wall" song.
Shiver me timbers!

It's the first pair-up for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, I'm just hoping they will not ruin the movie.

My Winter Garden Nitrogen Desserts experience

When a film takes off as quickly as Frozen, you can bet everyone will be addicted to it and will go repeatedly for that theme.

and I'm pretty sure we're not alone in that sentiment!
