K-Pop Star Lee Min Ho Meets KyoChon Chicken in Manila | Event Highlight

Korean culture has definitely taken the world by storm, especially in the Philippines.

Filipinos have embraced it over the past few years, and I’m not complaining. My family, especially my kids, love anything Korean, from noodles to movies, we just can’t get enough of the Korean craze.

Korean dramas have even made their way into Filipino homes, becoming a hot topic of conversation. And I’ll admit, my day wouldn’t feel complete if I didn’t pull an all-nighter just to finish a Korean drama I started that same day. Depriving myself of sleep just to finish “one more episode” is strangely satisfying in the end.

Filipinos have truly become hooked (myself included, lol!) on anything from South Korea.

So it came as no surprise that when KyoChon, Korea’s leading fried chicken restaurant chain, finally opened its doors, Filipinos were more than excited to line up and finally taste Korea’s famous fried chicken.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try the amazing chicken from KyoChon when I attended Lee Min Ho’s fan meet at Greenhills.

KyoChon started serving its signature chicken dishes in 1991 and has since grown into a global brand with nearly 1,000 branches across countries such as the United States, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and of course, the Philippines.

Here in the Philippines, there are already three branches located in Fairview, SM Megamall, and now Greenhills—making it more accessible for anyone who wants to try their “honest” fried chicken.

Yes, their chicken is said to be healthier compared to others. Although it is deep-fried, it uses a double-frying method that helps remove excess oil, resulting in a cleaner and lighter taste. The chicken is also coated in sauce piece by piece to ensure better flavor and consistency.

KyoChon emphasizes the use of honest, all-natural ingredients with the lowest possible sodium content. They also do not use frozen chicken in their kitchen, which is a big plus—it is only cooked after you place your order.

KyoChon chicken comes in four main variants:

Original – with soy garlic glaze
Honey – with natural honey sauce
Spicy (Red) – with Korean hot sauce

Soonsal - Boneless chicken breast with 3 dipping sauces
They also serve Healthy fresh Green salad with grilled chicken
