There are nights when music does more than just fill the room it stays with you long after the last note fades. That was exactly what happened at Jazz Smile a heartwarming evening of jazz, bossa nova, and meaningful connections.
I still remember the first time I heard Sitti Navarro on the radio back in college. Her soft, soothing voice instantly stood out, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Seeing her later on MYX only made me admire her more. There’s something effortlessly charming about her presence both on and off stage.
Thanks to Ms. Mj Juco of Tangerine Skies, I finally got the chance to see Sitti perform live and it was everything I imagined and more.
The event took place at Il Terrazzo Mall along Tomas Morato, a familiar hub for food and live entertainment in Quezon City. Held at the Techno Wave Bar, the concert brought together music lovers for a special cause a benefit show for Operation Smile Philippines.
Jazz Smile featured an incredible lineup including Rannie Raymundo, known for his timeless hit “Why Can’t It Be,” and Aisaku Yokogawa, whose love for Original Pilipino Music shines through every performance. Supporting acts like Cercados and Pinoy soul group Layag added even more depth to the evening.
Beyond the music, the night was filled with personal moments that made it unforgettable. I met fellow fans who quickly turned into friends, bonded by our shared admiration for Sitti’s music. There’s something special about connecting with people who love the same artist you do it instantly feels like home.
One of the most touching highlights came from Rannie Raymundo himself. As he shared the story behind his iconic song, inspired by his love for his wife, you could feel the sincerity in every word. It was one of those rare moments where the entire room fell silent, completely captivated.
Performances by artists like Cello Nunez added even more soul to the night, making it a well-rounded musical celebration.
Walking away from that concert, I felt lighter, happier, and more inspired. It was more than just a show it was a reminder of how powerful music can be in bringing people together and lifting spirits.
I left that night knowing one thing for sure I’ll always be a fan of Sitti.
And who knows maybe one day I’ll get to sing a duet with her.
