Shangri-La to Cubao Food Trip with Sisters in Law
Last Wednesday, April 17, turned into one of those simple yet unforgettable days. I called up my sisters-in-law, Nikki and Sherry, to join me on a quick errand run that quickly became a full-on bonding day around Shangri-La Plaza and Cubao.
I had just gotten back from Isabela and only had a week to roam around Manila, so this mini reunion felt extra special.
Our first stop was Shangri-La Plaza, where I needed to claim a prize from a giveaway. We headed to PJs Sleepwear on Level 4.
If you’re a mom or shopping for kids, this store is definitely worth checking out. They offer a wide selection of adorable and high-quality sleepwear for children. While the prices lean on the higher side, the designs and comfort make them a tempting splurge. They also have branches in malls like Trinoma, SM Clark, and even as far as Davao.
After picking up my prize, we made our way to Cubao to claim something equally exciting for me a one-year supply of Sisters sanitary pads. I had originally planned to have it shipped to Isabela, but since that didn’t push through, picking it up personally turned into part of the adventure.
By the time we finished, we were starving. We headed to Gateway Mall and browsed through several restaurant options before settling on SumoSam.
Great choice, by the way.
The food was absolutely delicious, but wow the servings were huge. Definitely come hungry if you plan to eat here. I even ordered miso soup thinking it would be a light add-on, but it turned out to be more filling than expected. Let’s just say I ended up sipping green tea to fight off that overly full, slightly bloated feeling.
We couldn’t even finish everything, so my sisters-in-law packed up leftovers to take home.
After that heavy meal, we thought a walk might help. We strolled over to National Book Store, hoping to burn at least a fraction of what we ate.
We ended up laughing at ourselves, waddling around like noisy penguins with full bellies. But honestly, we were happy penguins. And sometimes, that’s all that matters.
It may have been a short trip, but it was filled with laughter, good food, and meaningful catch-up time. Days like this remind me how important it is to pause, reconnect, and enjoy the little moments with people who matter.
Manila, I already miss you. Hoping for another fun day like this with these amazing ladies soon.
