The admired musician and world-class performer Bamboo seems pretty excited about being part of Jollibee’s roster of brand ambassadors.
“This will be my first for them, and I can’t wait to rock the world with our newest commercial for Jollibee,” he shared during the launch of the Jollibee Garlic Pepper Beef TVC held last January 21 at Craft Pub & Grill in The Fort.
Those of us who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s are part of a very unique generation, I tell you. I was born in the 1980s, and people from that era have witnessed everything from slow rock to alternative music, especially the Pinoy bands that dominated radio airwaves and clubs.
I distinctly remember hearing Bamboo Manalac’s voice on almost all the popular radio stations (yes, back when he was with Rivermaya), playing over and over again, alongside other Pinoy bands that have probably been revived more times than we can count.
Because of this, my affinity for Bamboo’s songs runs deep. He became a huge part of my growing-up years and completely filled my MP3 library. Back then, you’d see me walking to and from school carrying a bulky black box that had an AM/FM radio and cassette player. I listened to Bamboo’s songs a million times while waiting for my dad to pick us up.
Over the years, Bamboo has continued his success with multiple best-selling albums and sold-out concerts. Throughout more than two decades in the local music industry, he has consistently reinvented himself and his sound, reflecting his deep passion for his craft.
I’ve had the privilege of seeing him in person twice, and while some may think he’s unapproachable, he’s actually just a shy, down-to-earth guy who enjoys the simple and yummy things in life. Like savoring juicy beef strips in flavorful pepper sauce topped with garlic bits delicious, satisfying, and great value for money at only ₱50!
Yes, you can beef up your everyday like Bamboo with Jollibee Garlic Pepper Beef, available from Mondays to Fridays only.
Mapapa-“beef! beef! beef! beef!” ka rin sa sarap!
Although our team (including me) didn’t win the exciting rockeoke match with Coach Bamboo, the entire jamming experience already made us winners. We enjoyed the beefed-up musical performances, and most especially, we got to know more about the man behind the music through “The Other Side of Bamboo” special, featuring exclusive interviews with friends, band members, and members of Kamp Kawayan.
