Be part of #BR31SmileProject of Baskin-Robbins and help 31 kids to Smile again

Indeed, ice cream always makes us smile, right?

Whenever we feel down or low, nothing quite compares to an ice cream cone or a scoop of our favorite flavor to lift our spirits and bring a smile back.

Baskin-Robbins is giving us even more reasons to smile starting today with the launch of the #BR31SmilesProject.

The #BR31SmilesProject initiative is a partnership with Operation Smile, an internationally renowned organization that helps bring back smiles to children born with cleft lip and cleft palate conditions through free reconstructive surgery.

In celebration of their first year in Manila, Baskin-Robbins is sponsoring 31 children as part of this meaningful campaign.

This cause is very close to my heart and clearly, to theirs as well. I once encountered children with this condition during my hospital duty years ago, and the experience of seeing them like that is something that stays with you for a long time. It truly leaves a deep impact.

It’s been a year already for this wonderful ice cream company since its launch at the very same location last July 1.

They’re truly grateful for the success they’ve achieved since introducing the brand, and they now successfully operate five stores across Metro Manila, with plans to expand further in the future.

It really feels like bringing happiness to people is part of Baskin-Robbins’ DNA.

I’m also glad to see companies like Baskin-Robbins supporting meaningful initiatives like this. When you see the real impact they can make on the lives of children, it becomes very hard not to be fully supportive of the cause.

Mr. Wiggy Montenilla, President of Operation Smile Philippines, shared powerful stories about children who are often ridiculed because of their cleft lip and cleft palate conditions. Some of them stop going to school due to bullying, while others face misunderstanding even from their own families, who struggle to fully grasp what they are going through.

Because of this ongoing need, there remains a significant backlog of cases, with thousands of children still waiting for help each year around 4,300 more added annually. It is a reality that is difficult to fully imagine.

As he simply put it, even small acts of support matter, “eat ice cream,” he said. In that simple way, everyone can contribute in their own small but meaningful way.

To support this mission, Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest specialty ice cream chain, has formed a meaningful partnership with Operation Smile Philippines, pledging to help bring smiles back to these children through life-changing care and support.

This campaign not only brings back the smiles of children with facial deformities, but also helps Operation Smile Philippines raise public awareness about these birth conditions and how deeply they can affect a child’s life.

He explained that one of their biggest challenges is securing funding for surgeries, as well as identifying and reaching the children who need help. Children with these conditions often choose to hide away due to fear of stigma and cruelty from others.

If life has given you blessings, the message is simple, share them. Just like what Baskin-Robbins is doing, initiatives like this play a meaningful role in giving children hope for a better future.

Through this campaign, they are able to further share Operation Smile’s life-changing mission and help bring back joy and smiles to Filipino children once again.

The 31 Smiles Project also provides an opportunity to share these stories with Filipinos and inspire people to lend a hand to these children through donations and volunteer work.

As he shared, whenever a volunteer mission is announced, “you’ll be amazed, hundreds of them come out.” It becomes a powerful chance to offer hope to the children: hope that they can return to school, that they no longer have to endure bullying, and that they will be embraced with more understanding and love by their families.

The number 31 is truly an important symbol for Baskin-Robbins, so much so that it is subtly hidden in their logo. Have you figured it out yet?

For their first-year anniversary, they wanted to do more than just a promotional campaign. They felt that Operation Smile was the right partner to work with for a more meaningful initiative.
