How to Join The #URCFlourishPilipinas : Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016 + FREE recipe below

I finally had the chance to bake again after so many years. I've already forgotten some pointers I got back then. But brace yourselves people, as the baking fever is about to sweep the entire nation once again for URC Flour is bringing back its national baking competition and nationwide search for the next Filipino bake masters.
The Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016 will be a realty-based format for the first time ever.

Flourish Pilipinas has been going on for 3 years now, recognizing fresh talents every year.
No matter how young these talents are, they are already contributing to the vision of URC. The campaign also aims to help future bakers as they start their career in creating unique recipes of breads and pastries.

URC Flour has been in the industry for 45 years, with the diverse roster of brands and quality products, that brought them to where they are right now. They are known to be one of the pillars of the flour industry.

During the media edition of Bake It Happen! happened at the Galastars Culinary in Pasig, we were asked to bake a chocolate cupcake with the kiwi fruit slices as the secret ingredient. My partner Mauie Flores and I had the chance to showcase our bread- and cake-making skills in a span of just 30 minutes, I think?

It was such an easy cupcake to make but I had most fun with whipping the whipping cream to make it incredibly light, soft and fluffy.
Mauie put some avocado green food coloring to make it more dramatic. Since she is a legit baker, she taught me how to make the cupcake to stay moist yet fluffy the entire time. Mine's really just child's play. Anyway, she decorated it with some piped whipped cream and kiwis. Believe me when I say that it tasted even better that it looks.

We consumed the entire cupcakes right after the host announced the winner. Of course, team number 8 bagged first place with the average score of 96.3 %.

You want to join the competition? Here's how :

• Culinary Arts or Hotel and Management course students are encouraged to submit original recipes in the Breads or Cakes categories.
• Shortlisted teams will vie in the Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Visayas/Mindanao and GMA/Luzon regional competitions. 
• These will be held at the University of Mindanao in Davao City and Center for Culinary Arts in Manila, respectively. 
• All finalists will be given a challenge and a surprise ingredient to use during the bake-off.
• Trophies, certificates, and more than P300,000 worth of prizes await the winners while regional grand champions will also receive internships with one of the country’s prestigious hotels, the Crowne Plaza Hotel and a feature in Yummy Magazine.
