Being a mom can be difficult especially when dressing up. I have nothing to wear now really.
I always waste precious early morning minutes before going to my events trying on and then discarding clothes that aren’t working.I used to have that free time getting up, doing my hair, wearing fashion clothes before kids. Now its jeans and comfy shirt and whatever blouse I can grab in my closet. Sadly, my whole closet is pretty much gray and black. A PR person already noticed my dying fashionista in me since I wear only the color black to his events. Motherhood makes it difficult keeping up with fashion.
In my head, those hard-earned money should be spent elsewhere (like the bills and kids) but I do believe now in keeping my looks up to par, for my events and the hubby as well.
I loved what Vince Uy said, that a good piece of clothing is when you can wear it so many ways, one that you can wear in and out of the office or your events. Moms can save a lot of money by doing this, that is why I like to keep my essentials- the little black blouse and skirts. I just mix them with other clothes to create new outfits to maximize the wardrobe, to also minimizing the spending.
Instead of buying even more matching ensemble, just mix them up to make more options.
You should play with texture and silhouette which people always forget when pairing things. You can do one color yet still look polished. Never rely on just one color and print.
Overall, whether you buy cheap clothing or not, your outfit shouldn't be boring at all. Remember - What you wear can influence your thinking. Accessorize but also affordable.
Add more personality into your work or daily wear and to avoid blending in the back ground and looking at everyone else. The whole point is to stand out and have fun!
Looking good is feeling good, and a happy mommy and wifey is a good mommy and wifey :)
