Avida Land marked its 34th anniversary by reviving the much-anticipated Grand Neighbor Day, an event designed to strengthen community ties and promote sustainable living.
This nationwide celebration brought together Avida residents from various communities, encouraging new connections and shared experiences through activities themed “Connect & Thrive: Building Stronger Communities Together."
Nancy Delegencia, Customer Care and Product Delivery Group Head at Avida, highlighted the importance of the event: “For our 34th anniversary, we wanted to make it meaningful by inviting our residents to join us in celebrating this milestone. Grand Neighbor Day is a wonderful opportunity to foster stronger community connections and advocate for sustainable living.”
A standout moment of the day was the Grand Reveal of the Avida Upcycling Competition entries. Residents worked together to craft beautiful Christmas lanterns using upcycled PET bottles and recyclable materials. A panel of esteemed judges, including Dr. Carlomar Aracngel Daoana, Joshua Limon Palisoc, Atty. Joseph Gonzales, and Petes Gamboa, evaluated the entries and selected the winning teams.
Avida communities from across the country participated, including Avida Towers Vireo and Avida Towers One Union Place in Arca South, Avida Towers Turf in BGC, Avida Towers Vita in Vertis North, Avida Towers Riala in Cebu, Avida Towers Atria in Iloilo, Hillcrest Estates NUVALI and Southfield Settings NUVALI in Laguna, as well as Serin East Tagaytay and Avida Verra Settings Vermosa in Cavite.
After a thorough judging process, Team Avida Verra Settings Vermosa was crowned the Grand Winner, with Team Avida Towers Riala securing second place, and Team Serin East Tagaytay taking third.
Gerryringo L. Lariza, leader of the winning Avida Verra Settings Vermosa team, shared the inspiration behind their design: “The AVSV Lantern 2024, featuring a landscape flower design, embodies the Filipino-Verra Christmas spirit. By using vibrant plastics, PET bottles, and construction debris, we crafted flowers and traditional décor to symbolize unity and family.”
Sustainability also took center stage in other activities during Grand Neighbor Day. Residents of all ages participated in “Debris to Design: Recycling to Create Home Décor,” transforming everyday items like tissue rolls, cans, and bottles into personalized home décor pieces. Another highlight was the “A Taste of My Hometown” event, where residents shared their favorite hometown dishes, fostering a festive atmosphere and further emphasizing community bonds.
“At Avida, we believe that the connections formed within our communities enhance the living experience,” said Delegencia. “We’re thrilled to have hosted another successful Grand Neighbor Day, where our residents came together to celebrate the joy of sustainable living.”
