PLDT Home has launched the world-first ‘Always On’ hybrid modem, designed to automatically switch from fiber to LTE in case of service interruptions, ensuring uninterrupted internet connectivity.
This innovative modem can deliver speeds of up to 1 Gbps and includes unlimited LTE backup, providing seamless service even during fiber downtime.
“We call this ‘Always On.’ With this device, you won’t have to worry about losing internet access during disruptions. Whether it's a fiber outage or cable damage, you can stay connected and continue your online activities with minimal interruption,” said Jeremiah de la Cruz, Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT’s Home Business Group.
In addition to its seamless LTE failover, the Always On modem automatically files a service repair ticket when downtime is detected, eliminating the need for customers to manually report issues.
This latest development follows PLDT’s introduction of Gigabit Fiber plans offering speeds up to 10 Gbps, further improving network reliability and customer experience. PLDT Home is committed to improving customer retention and building loyalty, already surpassing the industry average in 2023.
With a P75 billion to P78 billion capital expenditure plan for 2024, PLDT continues to invest in mobile infrastructure, data centers, and submarine cables to enhance network performance. PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, spanning over 1.1 million cable kilometers, supports both Smart’s mobile network and PLDT Home’s services, delivering fast, reliable internet to customers nationwide.
