3 in 4 Filipinos Prioritize Healthier Diets for Mental and Physical Wellness – Herbalife Asia Pacific Survey

Herbalife, a global leader in health and wellness, has shared key insights from its Asia Pacific “New Year, New Me” survey, highlighting the growing importance of healthier lifestyles among Filipino consumers.

According to the survey, 76% of Filipinos recognize the significance of a healthier diet for both mental and physical health. Additionally, 82% plan to adopt healthier habits in the coming year, with improved overall well-being, increased energy levels, and better sleep quality as their primary goals.

The survey, conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Herbalife, involved 5,500 adults across 11 countries and explored how individuals are approaching their health resolutions for 2025. The findings also revealed that 66% of Filipinos intend to make a New Year's resolution this year, with the top three goals being self-care (60%), exercising more (57%), and eating healthier (57%).

"New Year’s resolutions provide a fresh start to focus on health, and Filipinos’ strong family values and determination make them well-equipped to achieve lasting lifestyle changes. By setting realistic goals and making small, consistent improvements, people can make health a long-term priority,” said Allan Domingo, General Manager of Herbalife Philippines.

However, as the year comes to a close, 60% of respondents admitted to feeling less healthy than usual, and 53% use the end-of-year season as an excuse to delay healthy eating. This trend is more prevalent among younger generations, with 61% of Gen Z respondents and 47% of Gen Xers confessing to this behavior. The survey also revealed that 70% of participants have broken their diets during the festive season, with 35% citing the temptation of holiday food.

For many, taking a break from healthy habits is seen as part of enjoying the holiday season. In fact, 61% of respondents said they find the end-of-year period more enjoyable when they are not preoccupied with healthy eating or weight management. Younger respondents, particularly Gen Z, are more likely to agree, with 68% of them expressing this view.

Respondents also cited increased feelings of gratitude for spending time with family and friends (53%) and a desire to enjoy the present moment without feeling restricted by self-control (36%) as reasons for indulging more during this holiday season.

"While it’s important to enjoy the holidays with loved ones, it’s possible to do so while maintaining a balance between indulgence and healthy habits. By making mindful choices, such as balancing festive treats with nutritious foods and staying active, you can celebrate without compromising your well-being,” added Allan.

Survey Methodology The Herbalife survey was conducted by Talker Research between October 25-29, 2024, and surveyed 5,500 consumers across 11 countries: Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
