Brother’s Annual Lakbay Aral: A Fun-Filled Day of Learning and Christmas Celebration

Brother Philippines, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), celebrated the 12th annual Lakbay Aral trip on December 7, 2024, offering a unique and enriching experience to 120 students from Inigan Elementary School.

This year’s event took place at the Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo in Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Parañaque City.

A Day of Learning and Holiday Cheer

The event brought together 120 students and 25 Brother Philippines associates for a day filled with both education and holiday spirit. The immersive experience allowed the students to explore exhibits that showcased Filipino culture, food, and traditions in a fun, interactive way. Encouraging curiosity and creativity, the program’s activities helped broaden the students' understanding of their heritage.

The day concluded with a heartwarming Christmas gift-giving activity, spreading joy and emphasizing the event’s focus on both learning and celebration.

Brother Philippines’ Commitment to Education and Community Engagement

Glenn Hocson, President of Brother Philippines, shared, “Through the Lakbay Aral program, we aim to provide students with meaningful learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom. We believe in the power of education to transform lives, and we’re honored to play a part in enriching their experiences while celebrating the holiday spirit together.”

A Long-Standing Tradition of Giving Back

Since its launch in 2012, the Lakbay Aral program has been a cornerstone of Brother Philippines' corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The program offers students at Inigan Elementary School a chance to engage in hands-on, experiential learning. Previous trips have taken students to various educational destinations, including the Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City, where they explored science and technology exhibits.

This year’s trip to the Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo took the learning experience to new heights by focusing on Filipino heritage and traditions. With immersive displays and engaging activities, the museum visit provided the students with a deeper appreciation of their cultural roots.

Supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Lakbay Aral program aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which promotes inclusive and equitable access to education. Additionally, it supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development.

“Education is a cornerstone of sustainable development,” Hocson emphasized. “Through initiatives like Lakbay Aral, we remain committed to empowering young minds and strengthening our communities.”

Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for Lakbay Aral

Brother Philippines’ partnership with PBSP ensures the continued success and impact of the Lakbay Aral program. Through these educational initiatives, Brother Philippines aims to make a lasting impact on the students, their families, and the broader community.
