Delivering Joy: Lalamove and SPIT Manila’s Heartwarming Surprise for Seniors

For most delivery drivers, every stop is about parcels, packages, and schedules.

But for one unforgettable afternoon, a delivery team from Lalamove rolled up not just with essentials—but with warmth, laughter, and genuine human connection.

At Kanlungan ni Maria, a serene home for the elderly nestled in the hills of Antipolo, senior residents were greeted not with the usual boxes, but with wheelchairs, soft pillows, and fragrant fresh roses. And as if that wasn’t enough to lift spirits, SPIT Manila—the country’s premier improv comedy group—jumped in to deliver something even more valuable: laughter.

Delivering What Truly Matters

"This delivery felt different from the rest," shared one of the Lalamove drivers on site. “We weren’t just dropping off goods—we were part of something bigger.”

The event is part of Lalamove’s Deliver Care initiative, a program created to support overlooked communities through meaningful acts of service. While the company is known for its speedy on-demand logistics, this time, the focus was on delivering care, attention, and visibility—especially to senior citizens who are often left out of mainstream outreach efforts.

“Through Deliver Care, we want to deliver things that matter,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines. “Not just essentials, but moments that make people feel seen and valued.”

A Touch of Laughter, A Whole Lot of Heart

As SPIT Manila took the stage—if you could call a simple common room a stage—residents chuckled, clapped, and some even wiped away tears (of joy). It was an afternoon that broke the monotony and brought real emotional connection to those who rarely get visitors, let alone entertainment.

“We are beyond grateful that Lalamove chose to surprise our elderly residents,” said Sr. Sonia Paballa of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, who helps run Kanlungan ni Maria. “It’s not just the physical donations, it’s the time, presence, and laughter that made this day unforgettable.”

Spreading Care Across Metro Manila

But the heartwarming deliveries didn’t stop in Antipolo.

Lalamove extended its efforts to elderly communities in Novaliches and Pasay City, teaming up with the Coalition of Services for the Elderly (COSE) and the Confederation of Older Persons Associations in the Philippines (COPAP). These communities, often under-resourced, welcomed the support with open arms.

In Pasay, Lalamove visited the Home for the Golden Gays, a shelter that provides support to elderly LGBTQ+ individuals. With only 21 residents but countless needs, the delivery of mobility aids and daily essentials brought not just relief, but recognition.

There are over 9 million senior citizens in the Philippines, many of whom face mobility issues and lack consistent support. Through Deliver Care, Lalamove is showing that even a logistics company can drive real social impact—one thoughtful delivery at a time.

Organizations like Kanlungan ni Maria, COSE, COPAP, and the Golden Gays do incredible work with limited resources. You can be part of the wider circle of care by donating or simply spreading the word.
