PLDT High Speed Hitters Honor the Mothers Behind Their PVL Bronze Medal Triumph

From packed arenas to emotional video calls back home, the women of the PLDT High Speed Hitters are proving that every victory is built on love, sacrifice, and unwavering support from the people who raised them.

The 2026 Premier Volleyball League All Filipino Conference became a defining chapter for the PLDT High Speed Hitters. After a grueling campaign filled with long practices, intense matches, and relentless pressure, the team finally secured a long-awaited bronze medal finish and returned to the PVL podium stronger than ever.

But behind every hard-earned point and every celebration on the court lies a deeper story, one rooted not in trophies, but in motherhood.

This Mother’s Day, the High Speed Hitters opened up about the women who shaped their strength long before they became volleyball stars. From overseas sacrifices to quiet encouragement during difficult seasons, these mothers became the foundation of the team’s resilience both on and off the court.

For Filipino Canadian star Savi Davison, success was never measured by awards or statistics at home. Her mother taught her something far more valuable, self-belief.

“She never pressured me to chase accolades,” Davison shared. “She always reminded me that giving my best was enough.”

Through years of demanding schedules, exhausting training sessions, and emotional sacrifices that came with professional volleyball, her mother remained a steady source of comfort and motivation. That unconditional support helped Davison emerge as one of PLDT’s most dependable leaders during the conference.

This Mother’s Day, Davison wants to give back the same warmth and consistency she has always received.

“My mom already knows how much she means to me. She’s not just my mother, she’s also my best friend,” she said. “I’m proud to be so much like her. She’s strong and independent, but still gentle, curious, and beautiful in every way.”

For opposite hitter Jessey de Leon, distance has become part of the reality of being a professional athlete. Spending Mother’s Day away from home is never easy, but technology helps bridge the gap.

“I’ll be video calling her,” de Leon shared.

Even from miles away, her mother’s quiet support continues to guide her. Whether through simple conversations or virtual bonding moments, their connection remains strong despite the distance.

“I’m so grateful for everything she sacrificed for our family,” de Leon said emotionally. “She showed me what it truly means to care for your children. I love you always.”

Meanwhile, team captain and Best Libero awardee Kath Arado carries a story deeply rooted in sacrifice and perseverance.

While Arado continues to compete in Manila, her heart remains with her family in Iligan City. She recalled how her mother once left the country to work as a caregiver abroad just to provide a better life for their family.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without her,” Arado said. “I’m thankful for all the sacrifices, love, and support she gave not only to me, but also to my younger siblings.”

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Arado prepared a heartfelt surprise by sending flowers and cake to Iligan, a small gesture for a mother who gave everything for her children’s future.

For outside hitter Alleiah Malaluan, the offseason is more than just rest and recovery. It is also a chance to reconnect emotionally with the people who matter most.

Since childhood, her mother has been her biggest supporter and guiding light throughout her volleyball journey.

“Mommy, thank you for everything you’ve done for me,” Malaluan said. “I’m truly grateful that you are my mom. I love you.”

Though she may not be home physically, Malaluan made sure her gratitude reached Batangas through a thoughtful flower delivery and heartfelt message.

Beyond the bronze medal and career milestones, the PLDT High Speed Hitters understand that their greatest victories begin at home. Behind every dive, save, and game-winning spike are mothers who sacrificed quietly, loved endlessly, and believed in their daughters long before the spotlight arrived.

Whether together in person or connected through crystal clear video calls, PLDT Home Fiber continues to help families stay close no matter the distance, proving that the strongest connections are the ones built with love.
