On Water Conservation; How Maynilad Prepares For Summer 2020

It's the first week of March already. Meaning, the Summer months are upon us.
Chances are, you'll be screaming for more water supply. So, this is the time when residents and consumers need to be more cautious and strict about water consumption.
So what can we do as a community to help conserve our water resource?
While Maynilad is doing its part in managing supply, customers can also help by being responsible.
Check out this info-graphic on how you can use water wisely.

Maynilad Water Supply Situation 2019

Last June 2019, the NWRB reduced raw water allocation for the MWSS in an effort to preserve the remaining water in Angat Dam which plunged to below-critical levels due to rainfall. Thus, the daily rotational water service interruptions. The situation have maximized the limited supply, ensuring the customers to have water, even just for few hours.
Maynilad was able to temporarily suspend the rotational interruptions from July to September of last year(2019) because of the rainfall. However, water level from Ipo Dam plunged when the Ipo Watershed dwindled. The rotational interruptions started again in October 2019.
Now, Angat Dam Water Level is above its minimum. However, the NWRB still retained reduced allocation for MWSS (currently at 42 cms) to ensure that there will be enough for the Summer.

Maynilad Preparations For Summer 2020

Summer means reducing water supply with longer daily rotational water service interruptions but Maynilad has been implementing mitigating measures since 2019 like
Optimizing its Putatan Water Treatment Plant 1, Commissioning of PWTP2, Reactivating deep wells, Sustaining reduction of water losses, Purchasing mobile treatment plants that will tap rivers in Cavite, Deploying mobile and stationary water tankers, and conducting cloud-seeding operations.

Long-Term Solution

Developing an additional raw water source and continuous monitoring of Angat and Ipo Dams.
