Bring the ocean home with the BLÅVINGAD collection from IKEA

IKEA has recently launched their newest collection designed to spark play and curiosity about the world’s largest habitat, from tots to tweens.

Since the kids are very concerned about the ocean, they want the adults to listen to their fears because caring for the ocean is vital for the planet. This was from IKEA Kids’ Advisory Panel 2020.

Immersed in play and sleep

At IKEA, they believe that play is critical for kids’ development and growth. Let your curious little ones discover the world — and their dreams — with cuddly soft toys, arts and crafts, and cotton bed linen from the BLÅVINGAD collection.

Packed to the brim with soft toys, aquatic textiles, submarine and fishing games and dreamy lighting, the collection has become my new favorite collection from IKEA as recycled materials, including those made from ocean-bound plastic (OBP), are used where possible.

The BLÅVINGAD collection is designed to inspire interest about life under the ocean – a home to  thousands of creatures. The message behind BLÅVINGAD comes to life through the products that take small but significant steps to be more sustainable. 

From soft toy and cushion fillings, rugs and storage, a number of the products contain recycled polyester made from ocean-bound plastic (OBP) picked up from areas up to 30 miles inland from their coastlines. IKEA used findings from their Kids’ Advisory Panel to create five cute friends based on kids’ favorite marine animals, including the dolphin and orca. They are the perfect cuddly companions for play and for comfort.

If your children are fascinated by the mysteries of the deep blue sea, dive into the range of ocean-inspired soft toys. Available are big, squeezable plushies like the blue whale that is a friendly playtime companion before bedtime. Plus, it comes with a secret hiding spot – its mouth can hold hidden treasures.
