MIIS 2024 Kids Can Bazaar: A Big Win for Youth Entrepreneurship
On December 1, 2024, Multiple Intelligence International School (MIIS) hosted the highly anticipated Kids Can!
#4GreenPH Eco-Bazaar and Thrift Market, an event that drew over a thousand enthusiastic attendees. This vibrant bazaar was a remarkable celebration of youth entrepreneurship, creativity, and sustainability, offering shoppers the chance to support unique, eco-friendly products while enjoying live student performances. The event highlighted MIIS' commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on “Leadership for a Sustainable Future” and fostering young entrepreneurial talent.
The 2024 edition of the Kids Can! Bazaar saw students from all grade levels actively participating, organizing and managing 26 dynamic booths, each focused on a different cause or advocacy. From animal welfare to gender equality, each booth had its own message, offering a wide range of products that were as meaningful as they were innovative. Shoppers could browse eco-conscious items such as stylish, handmade bags and clothing crafted from woven fabric in support of indigenous peoples. Other booths featured an array of sustainable products, including essential oils, artisanal snacks, pre-loved clothing, and much more, making it a perfect opportunity to shop for unique Christmas gifts that also supported a good cause
.
One of the event’s most popular and engaging booths was the Bayong-All-You-Can. This booth offered shoppers the chance to purchase beautifully handcrafted bayongs—woven bags made by women artisans—and fill them to the brim with fresh, locally sourced produce, including fruits and vegetables from farmers in Region 2. Not only did this booth promote sustainability by encouraging the use of reusable bags, but it also highlighted the importance of supporting local agriculture and empowering women entrepreneurs.
Beyond the shopping experience, the MIIS Kids Can! Bazaar was filled with engaging activities that entertained and educated attendees. Throughout the day, students took to the stage to perform in lively choreographies and showcase their talents. These performances weren’t just about entertainment; they were also an opportunity to raise awareness for the SDGs their respective classes had been advocating for. In addition to the performances, the event featured sustainability talks that emphasized the importance of environmental consciousness, leadership, and global citizenship, providing valuable learning opportunities for both the students and the visitors.
Held at the bustling Ayala Malls U.P. Town Center, the 2024 Kids Can! Bazaar was an overwhelming success, drawing support and admiration from families, friends, and shoppers alike. The event was a true testament to the dedication and passion of the MIIS students, who managed everything from booth set-ups to financial transactions, all while promoting the products they had created. The sense of pride and accomplishment was palpable, as the young entrepreneurs gained hands-on experience in running a business, marketing their products, and managing finances, all while supporting important social causes.
The success of the Kids Can! Eco-Bazaar is a clear indication of the growing enthusiasm among young students for entrepreneurialism, sustainability, and social responsibility. The event was not only a celebration of their hard work but also a powerful reminder of the positive impact that youth-led initiatives can have on local communities and the world at large. As MIIS continues to nurture the next generation of innovators, environmental advocates, and leaders, the Kids Can! program remains at the forefront of inspiring change, empowerment, and sustainability.
