On a bright Monday morning, the UP Men’s Football Team (UPMFT) traded in their usual football drills for a heartwarming activity

Winger and defender Ken Saludez, who has three dogs—Coco the Shih Tzu, Churro the Mini Poodle, and Cola the Labrador—also finds peace in spending time with his pets. He emphasizes that walking and bathing the dogs are family activities, which have become a cherished weekend bonding time. "They’re just always there when you need them," Ken says, highlighting the calm and comfort his dogs provide him.

For forward Florenz Tacardon, his Beagle named Bigol has been more than just a pet—he's been a source of solace during difficult times. “Bigol’s ‘kulit’ (playful) personality always perks us up when we’re tired,” Florenz says. He shares a heartfelt memory of how Bigol comforted him when he was grieving the loss of a close teammate two years ago. “I remember crying while studying, and Bigol just stayed with me. I hugged him until I fell asleep.”

Forward Josh Garces, originally from Cebu, misses his dogs, Twix the Shih Tzu and Tisoy the Pug, and the way they’re always there to listen, even though they can’t answer back. “Even though they don’t talk, they’re the best listeners,” Josh says, highlighting the bond he shares with his furry friends.
