Samsung Expands Smart Air Conditioner Lineup in Southeast Asia and Oceania with Retail Launch
New models offer built-in Wi-Fi, AI-powered features, and flexible design for both commercial and residential use
Samsung Electronics has officially launched its latest system air conditioner (SAC) lineup in Southeast Asia and Oceania, signaling a major push to grow its presence in the region’s rapidly expanding air conditioning market.
This new range includes innovative indoor units such as the 1Way Cassette model, designed with both form and function in mind. Its slim profile and simple installation process make it an ideal option for residential settings, in addition to commercial spaces. With consumers increasingly seeking ceiling-mounted units to save space, the 1Way model offers an attractive solution that aligns with modern interior design preferences.
Smart Air Conditioning Designed for Convenience and Efficiency
The new SAC lineup features a variety of models, including the 1Way, 4Way, 360 Cassette, duct, and ceiling-mounted types. Each is tailored to suit different cooling needs and space requirements. The 1Way Cassette directs air in a single direction, the 4Way model disperses airflow evenly in four directions, and the 360 Cassette provides circular, omnidirectional air distribution.
All models are equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, enabling seamless integration with the SmartThings app. This connectivity allows users to control their air conditioning system remotely—turning units on and off, adjusting settings, activating modes like WindFree™, and monitoring energy usage through AI Energy Mode. These smart capabilities are accessible directly via smartphone, without requiring additional devices.
The systems also support Bixby voice control, allowing users to adjust temperature, fan speed, and modes using natural voice commands. This adds another layer of convenience for homeowners and business operators who value hands-free control and automation.
Durability and Sustainability with Upgraded Technology
Samsung has made several technical upgrades to improve both environmental impact and product longevity. The new models use R32 refrigerant, which has a lower global warming potential compared to the R410A refrigerant used in previous models. Outdoor units are also now equipped with Samsung’s proprietary Durafin™ Ultra technology, which protects the heat exchanger with a corrosion-resistant coating. This feature enhances long-term performance, especially in humid or coastal environments.
Wider Product Range to Meet Growing Demand
To serve a broader customer base, Samsung is expanding its distribution strategy. While commercial-grade units such as the 4Way and 360 Cassette models will continue to be available through professional installation channels, the more compact 1Way model is now available through general retail outlets. This shift aims to make smart air conditioning more accessible for residential customers who seek professional-grade performance in a home-friendly format.
With cooling capacities ranging from 5.2kW to 16kW, the expanded lineup is suitable for a wide range of environments, from small apartments to large commercial buildings. The 1Way model’s compact design, with a height of only 135mm, makes it particularly well-suited for homes with limited ceiling space.
Samsung reported a significant rise in SAC sales in the region last year, with overall unit sales increasing by over 20 percent. Notably, sales of the 1Way model surged more than 35 percent, reflecting strong demand from homeowners. By launching this model in retail stores, Samsung aims to continue driving growth in the high-potential Southeast Asian and Oceania markets.
