#7DaysWithCetaphil | Proper Skincare & Makeup Tutorial

I've heard these words from my skin care addict sister so many times, that washing the face should be a non-negotiable part of everyone's beauty routine. But since there are countless number of cleansers on the market today, it can be a strenuous task to choose which product works best for your skin type.

So glad I was able to join Cetaphil's Mall Animation Concept (Day 3) Featuring JCat Cosmetics in SM Makati, to make sense out of finding the best product for my skin.

The event actually delivers a relevant and engaging select information which enhanced awareness and education on how to achieve healthy skin from new born all the way to adults.
Liz Lanuzo of Project Vanity and online beauty influencer Jessica Godinez discussed how make up and skin care go hand in hand and shared their journeys toward good skin as beauty editors and bloggers.
Project Vanity has been an avid user of Cetaphil and for her it is probably the best facial soap. Said to be mild and non-irritating facial cleanser and doesn’t contain fragrance. Nor it is expensive, but it does what I need it to do.
There was a quick throwback to Chemistry class held by Project Vanity about the importance of knowing the pH levels of the products you are using.
Since Filipinas love to slather on moisturizers and sunscreen but aren't achieving the Korean glowing results you want, the answer will rely on the pH scale.

According to her, since everyone is acidic by nature, it's always good to use products with a low pH level  or with a pH level of 5.5.
It's startling to know that most of the products in the market are around 8, which is the pH level of a detergent. Imagine putting detergent product on your face. The higher the pH level your cleanser has, the more damaging it will be to your skin.
When the acid mantle is intact, your skin is properly acidic to its correct level. And that prevents bacteria from going in to your skin to cause breakouts. When the second layer which is the lipid barrier, is also unharmed, the moisture on your face will be on it's normal level.
Project Vanity's no-frills approach to preserve good skin
The first and most important thing for a basic skin care routine is to cleanse twice day, like after you wake up and before you sleep. When it comes to your skin’s health, go for the brand trusted by experts worldwide. Cetaphil is formulated to work even for the most sensitive skin.
The second step is to moisturize. Some may say to use toner but since it has alcohol content, it will do more harm than good. Using a moisturizer kind of heals your skin and helps recover from the daily damage caused by stress, pollution, unhealthy diet, etc.
But with Cetaphil, the skin will achieve the healthy glow you've always wanted since it is lightweight and super non-greasy.

Third step is sunblock. Since the most damaging factor of the skin is the sun, sunscreen is still the best anti-aging product.  Sunscreen helps reflect sun rays and scatter it away from your skin. Cetaphil daily moisturizer has SPF 15 which is already a good protection for 3 hours or so. The PA ++ you often see on bottles is one way to determine the level of protection.
Always remember that there are two kinds of sun rays - the UV A and UV B, and when you choose a sunscreen, you have to be able to protect from both, since both can cause aging and blemishes.
As you grow older, your skin degenerates and sunscreen literally slows down the aging process.
Cetaphil Daylong is the best sunscreen in my opinion. It is lightweight, no harmful smell and you can wear even with makeup.

Fourth step towards good skin is Exfoliation. Although this process allows the skin to breath, you should still avoid products with microbeads to prevent micro tears on your skin. Mud Masks are good cause it really sucks out the dirt and removes the dryness without harming the skin. Once or twice exfoliation a week is okay.
You can add double cleansing (originated in Japan )in your routine as well as it can achieve overall cleanliness especially after using makeup.

If you often wear makeup, you have to do the double cleansing no matter how good your cleanser is. Makeup has water and soap resistant particles in it, so when you wash your face without removing first your makeup with a separate cleanser, it will not completely remove the product.

For double cleansing, you should initially use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Cloths before the actual cleanser. The good thing about this cleanser cloths, it thoroughly removes makeup and dirt, leaving skin clean, refreshed and balanced. It also moisturizes without leaving residue that can clog pores. It cleanses everything right off without the harmful effects of alcohol.
It was indeed a fun 7-day skin health learning at the #7DaysWithCetaphil event in SM Makati. Attendees and the media got free Cetaphil Gift packs at their pop-up store opening.
