AXA PH employees volunteer to support social causes

AXA Philippines, one of the country's leading insurance providers, celebrated its 10th Corporate Responsibility (CR) Week by partnering with local non-government and non-profit organizations to promote volunteerism among employees and bring awareness to social causes such as climate change, physical and mental health, and social inclusion for the most vulnerable amid the pandemic.

"As we try to get through this pandemic, AXA Philippines felt the need to push through with our CR Week this year so that we can show how being there for each other can help us overcome adversities and shed light on our purpose, which is to act for human progress by protecting what matters -- be it our physical and mental health, children, vulnerable communities, or other social aspects," said AXA Philippines CEO Rahul Hora.

During the week-long event, AXA Philippines helped various local NGOs, many of which are regular partners. Through its partnership with Liter of Light, AXA Philippines top executives and employees volunteered to assemble renewable lamps for women-based communities in remote areas in the country to provide affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity.

In addition, AXA Philippines prepared gifts for the children from the Make a Wish Foundation, and volunteer employees also included letters of encouragement for the children. The company employees also teamed up with Best Buddies International to be friends with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). AXA Philippines volunteers received sensitivity training on how to be a buddy and showed leadership development and inclusive living for IDDs during these trying times.

Aside from these NGO partnerships, AXA Philippines also held a walkathon for a cause where participants chose from 3km, 5km, or 10km courses which they completed by walking or running indoors and outdoors. The local walkathon was monitored on an app and each kilometer walked raised a corresponding amount for charity, including Arko ng Pilipinas, an organization that cares for abandoned children with disabilities, and Project Inclusion Network, a nonprofit organization that helps persons with disabilities.
