My Wild Adventure at TV5!

12:41 AM
Crazy? Absolutely. Desperate? Not at all.

I didn’t need the money, I had my own savings.
Experience? None whatsoever.
But after having kids, I turned into an obedient daughter (I was quite the rebel before!).

For as long as I can remember, my mom had been nudging me to go on TV. Her dream? To see me sing live, especially in the Singing Moms category. Honestly, performing isn’t really my forte, but Mom is my number one fan, so I figured, why not?

After Tone left for work, Mom rushed to my place with my three kids in tow, as usual bringing food and even a white flower “just in case I got dizzy.” I hesitated at first, but when I saw the crowd lining up, I just stepped out of the car and dove right in.

The sky was clear, not a breeze in sight. But the sun? Brutal. You could fry an egg on the pavement. I forgot my umbrella and didn’t bring sunblock, probably the worst combo ever. Let’s just say my skin got a little more than just Vitamin D that day.

I joined the registration line at the very end, hoping to be picked as a contestant. That’s when I met Mommy Weng and her son. She was a TV contest regular and honestly needed the money. Meanwhile, I thought, “I don’t need this cash. Why am I letting the sun torture me?”

Thirst saved me. A food stand was nearby, so I grabbed a Minute Maid from Ate Nanay, the friendly vendor everyone seemed to know. In the first hours, the line was orderly and the moms were cheerful. But by noon, chaos erupted. Faces were hot, patience was thinning, and mine was about to snap. I wanted to leave so badly, but part of me refused to give up.

Summoning all my charm, I convinced one of the MIB boys that my name had already been called. He let me near the door, and I felt a wave of relief until my phone rang. It was Anthony. Panic! I couldn’t let him know what I was up to. Hesitant, I told him where I was anyway. “I’ll fetch you right away,” he said. “Call me when you’re in front.” I whispered, “Okay.” Part of me wanted to stay, the thrill of a fleeting moment of fame right within reach.

Hours of sun, chaos, and anticipation later, I finally realized: this was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure… and I will definitely not do it again.

Lesson learned. I’m officially a WILL-i, and that’s more than enough for me.
