You Have The Power To Fight Breast Cancer | Pink Ribbon Day

Probably the most hurtful thing in your life would be having someone close to you die so early. There are no words that can fill that empty space and you are in a constant search for an answer to the unanswerable question, “why?” But as we all know, death is inevitable.
Although Jennifer was older than me, we instantly connected the day we met in a bloggers event years ago. She was a healthy, bubbly girl.  Didn’t smoke and never drank. And she was really active and slim.  After 3 years of having a breast tumor, she was then diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. For only a few months after her diagnosis, she was gone. If only she let the doctors treat her during the first year of tumor detection, she would still be here with us.
When you feel devastated after losing a loved one, probably the only thing you think you need to do is to find out everything about the disease so you will be more aware.

During the Pink Ribbon Day of SM Cares, some celebrities shared inspiring stories which made us all emotional. In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breast cancer survivors, advocates, and experts gathered together for Pink Ribbon Day at the Skydome of SM City North EDSA.

Guests and breast cancer survivors Toni Abad, Maritoni Fernandez and Alya Honasan shared personal stories of beating breast cancer.

Now on its second year, Pink Ribbon Day aims to educate Filipinas on breast cancer prevention through awareness, early detection and intervention.
The event featured a short Zumba session led by host Regine Tolentino, a talk by the Philippine Breast Cancer Society, and free clinical breast examinations administered by volunteer doctors.

Breast cancer is said to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, but it can be prevented with early detection as I mention above. With our technology today, we all have the power to catch the disease in its early, most easily treatable stages. It is important to visit the doctor to have your screening tests done.
