SM Supermalls Teams Up with PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to Boost Cybersecurity Awareness Across the Philippines

SM Supermalls and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) have joined forces to take on a growing threat in today’s digital age, cybercrime.

Through a newly signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), both organizations are launching a nationwide campaign aimed at educating Filipinos on how to stay safe online.

Strengthening the Fight Against Cybercrime

The MOA signing took place at the SM Supermalls Headquarters Boardroom in MOA Square, Pasay City. The event brought together key representatives from both SM and the PNP, including Engr. Junias M. Eusebio, Vice President for Operations of SM Supermalls, and PBGen. Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.

This strategic partnership underscores SM Supermalls' ongoing commitment to public safety, not just within their physical malls, but in the digital space as well.

“SM Supermalls is more than just a destination for shopping and leisure. We are a committed partner in protecting the safety and well-being of every Filipino, whether they’re inside our malls or online,” said Engr. Eusebio.

Spreading the Word Through Cinema and LED Screens

As part of the agreement, SM Supermalls and SM Cinemas will provide free airtime to broadcast the PNP-ACG’s cybersecurity awareness videos across all SM Cinema and LED screens nationwide. These videos aim to inform mallgoers about online threats, promote safer digital habits, and inspire community involvement in protecting online spaces.

During the event, attendees were given a preview of the new cybersecurity campaign video, a powerful tool designed to reach millions of Filipinos where they are most engaged.

Government and Private Sector Working Hand in Hand

PBGen. Matthew P. Baccay, PNP Acting Director for Investigation and Detention Management, delivered a message of strong support for the campaign, emphasizing the need for public vigilance.

“Cybercrime is not just a police issue, it’s a community issue. This partnership with SM Supermalls allows us to expand our reach and foster a culture of digital responsibility,” said PBGen. Baccay.

The PNP-ACG plays a vital role in protecting citizens from online threats, and with this collaboration, they now have a louder platform to deliver life-saving information to the public.

Building a Safer Digital Future Together

This initiative is part of SM’s broader advocacy to support government services and build safer, smarter communities. By aligning with the PNP-ACG, SM Supermalls is helping bridge the gap between digital education and real-world action.

From malls to mobile phones, this campaign is a reminder that cybersecurity starts with awareness, and that everyone has a role to play.
