Happy Walk For Down Syndrome Marks 17th Year

This year's theme "Living with Down, This is My Story" represents how important it is for the community to understand the needs of children with down syndrome and to provide them with an atmosphere with love and inclusion.
As we all know, the month of February is Down Syndrome consciousness month and the Happy Walk event held at SMX Convention Center with talks from honorary guests, and interactive booths recently marks SM Cares' 17th year of acceptance and inclusion for the families for living with person with Down Syndrome.
They have certainly come a long way with their annual Happy Walk that started 2002 with only a handful of parents and children with Down Syndrome participating.
Now, they have SM as a partner with this advocacy as children with Down Syndrome with close to 8,000 participants. Grateful that they are given the opportunity to be heard and recognized as an important members of this community as well.
The SM Cares Program on Persons with Disabilities promotes a barrier-free and disability inclusive environment. It ensures that SM becomes a place for all; and a place for all means no one gets left behind. Every Filipino, with or without disability, is welcome in SM.

The SM Cares Program on Persons with Disabilities helps promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for the sector.

Consistently over the years, SM Cares has been awarded the National Government’s Apolinario Mabini Hall of Fame Award for its Programs on Persons with Disabilities.
