Blog Giveaway : WIN SkinWhite Products From Ericayub.com

“They were all telling me to go away.”

These were the uttered words of Anano, 6, a child actor who was part of an advocacy I saw on Facebook. The child's words never left my mind. It clearly shows what the "world" looks at -- only external appearance.
This is the sad truth. More people should look at the heart. I know the experiment deeply hurt the little one's heart and must have been traumatic. But this kind of experiment may also help to bring awareness to people since every one of us is being ignored, pushed aside and deprived of everything if the world doesn't accept the physical appearance.

But it doesn’t need to be this way. As beauty should never have been one or the other, as claimed by SkinWhite in their new campaign.

One would wonder why a skin whitening brand such as SkinWhite would dare to say that dark skin is beautiful. “It’s all about choice”, says Rachelle Layda, Marketing Manager for Whitening of Splash Corporation.

“SkinWhite is a brand that empowers women to choose. A choice to define their own standard of beauty. If you choose to have dark skin, you are beautiful. If you choose to have white skin, you are just as beautiful. The choice is yours, and SkinWhite respects that choice”.

It's refreshing and speak volumes, especially at a time when shaming and bullying is prevalent across social media. Haters abound online with no agenda but to shame in all forms and ways – body-shaming, hair-shaming, race-shaming, gender-shaming, and yes, also skin-shaming.

“This is precisely the stigma that we wish to change. Skin color should not be about one being better than the other”, adds Pam Sulit, Splash Corporation’s VP for Marketing.
“White and dark are both beautiful.” confirms Rachel Villanueva, Creative Director of Petch & Partners, the creative agency that created this campaign for SkinWhite. She continues, “It’s about time that dark skin and white skin get the same adoration and acknowledgment.”

There has never been an outright claim that DARK IS BEAUTIFUL. And for the statement to come from a skin whitening brand, it should be easy for others to follow suit. And for those who choose that WHITE IS BEAUTIFUL, there’s due acknowledgement that they’re simply taking control of their beauty too.
And why not?
Wear your skin, whichever way you choose. Because DARK OR WHITE, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

So now, I ask you this : Is skin color important to you?

  1. For me hindi importante kung anu man ang kulay ng balat natin. Maputi man maitim o morena. Decline agad. O anu pa man ang itsura natin. Kaya maging proud tayo be contented kung anung meron tayo.. You looks beautiful inside and out..

  2. No.. Kasi kahit ano pa man ang ating skin color dark or white maganda tayo in our own unique way at di lang naman sa panlabas o skin color nkikita ang ganda ng isang tao kundi pati narin sa ugali.
Me,ilove being morena kasi ito ako,ako to .pinapaalala nito kung saan ako nag mulA pero kahit kaylan ang pagiging morena ko hindi to humadlang para maging isang mabuti tao ako o para abutin ko ang aking mga pangarap.
Every skin color is UNIQUE and AMAZING mapa maputi ,morena o maitim man .

Mahalin natin ang sarili natin at sa paraan nayun magiging maganda tayo dahil magiging confident tayo.

  7. We are is not easily defined by our color!

Now a days color of the skin is so important because of the word discrimination! Just like me before, I'm so maitim talaga anjan pa yung moment na ayaw sau ng crush mo kasi maputi ang gusto nya. I did my best na pumuti khit konti lang. (This is for my own experience lang po) but always remember We are beautiful, and wild, elegant in our own ways!
There is no one like another, and each is radiant in a special and unique way no matter what your skin tone is!

  13. Skin color is not important for me. It's true that there are some who judge you by the color of your skin. This makes most Filipina become insecure with their complexion. However, we should not be easily discouraged by their words saying "maganda ka pag maputi ka". Like, what is that? Skin color as the basis of beauty is non-sense. What I'm trying to say here is that we are all created beautifully and uniquely. Remember that. I'm not against whitening products. Actually, they're great if they contain SPF, which protects and moisturizes our skin. To all the girls out there: be proud of your skin color. We are Filipinos and Western people love our skin color. God bless you.

  15. I am a filipina and I'm born with naturally beautiful morena skin Like other child, I grew up not concious about my appearance and skin color..I enjoyed playing under the sun.. While other always greeted me Negra..Negrita..Mocha... at kapag namatay ang ilaw.. nasaan si tin? nawawala sabay tawanan...and during teenagers life i tried to put blush on..and they teased me... wow para kang strawberry chocolate... and that is the time i decided to used skinwhite lotion ..due to curiosity...nangunguha lang ako sa ate ko.. curious ako pinanganak syang maputi pero gumagamit sya ng skin white...
i remember nahuli nya ako..at sabi nya kaya pala nauubos yan and she teased me..hindi na tatalab sayo yan ganyan na talaga kulay mo... and i ask her bkit ikaw maputi ka na pero gumagamit ka nito ? she answered ...for sun protection at para di daw magdry ang skin and to remove some scars.. and she continued.. maganda tayo khit anong kulay naten..morena ka
khit anong suotin mo bagay sayo ganun din ako dahil maputi ako.. from her words i was empowered and motivate to love my color and not ashamed of who i am...through this complexion some may teased me that im dark but through that darkness there is a brighter side lagi akong napapansin i joined pageant, fashion show and entered modelling. through this color it can make me stay in the sun, traveled, go on the beach and do everything i want ..

  16. Skin color is not important, and it's not the basis of beauty... we are all beautiful unique creatures of godHe created our skin with a different variety And we should be proud of it... beauty is not about our skin color...it's about having the purest heart

Ako, isa akong proud morena at naniniwala akong MAGANDA AKO! ✨

  18. I would honestly say that years ago ( as a teenager) , i thought of having a white flawless skin so i can flaunt it at a young age. I am naturally born morena and being expose to environment in the province, i developed darker skin tone that i am ashamed of my own skin. Ate would use to buy whitening lotion ( SkinWhite to be exact ) and it's not effective for me at that time. When i went to college and see foreign students, i learned to embrace my morena skin. Afterall, i find myself unique. Realization came that SKIN COLOR isn't important as long as you're taking care of yourself then no matter what your skintone is, you'll glow. I find this campaign empowering , coming from a known whitening brand. We have our own choices, just never allow yourself to degrade others bec they are darker or based on their skin color. Real beauty comes from within.❤️ Learn to love our own bec God created us equal.

Be Beautiful and unique na walang inaapakan ibang tao dahil mas masarap mamuhay ng payapa at malaya. 😊 GODBLESS Ms Erica 😍

  21. Q: Is skin color important to you?
A: I grew up in the province. Bilad sa araw lagi so yung morena color ko,mas naging maitim. 😂
In that place, lahat ng maputi maganda.
But when I started studying and working in the city, I realized its not important. I used a lot of whitening products too from capsules, lotion and soap ect but my skin color didn't change much.
I ask someone, what do they like about me? He said he loves my morena skin and my personality.
He's a meztiso guy and he also want to get a tan skin.
So its not just me who's not contented with my skin color. A lot of white people too wants to get the tan or dark skin. They are even willing to put tanning chemicals on their skin just to achieve it.
We just need to love yourself more to be contented with what you have ❤️

Is skin color important to you?

Para sa akin importante ang skin color. My color is my identity na rin...

For me, sa kasamaang palad hindi po ako nabibiyaan ng maputing balat pero I am thankful pa din po kung anu man ang kulay ng balat ko as long as I have a good heart. Char!!! Kaya it's a big NO.. hindi natin pwedeng gawing basehan ang pagkakaroon ng mapuputing balat.. Kasi what white skin do, morena skin do more..
