No One Should Be Left Behind | #PanataNgPamilya

Do you find yourself heading to the kitchen whenever you’re feeling down or otherwise upset?

Welcome to my life. Finding comfort in food is my hobby, and this pandemic has just made it more intense, eating much more than usual while working from home. I'm one of those unlucky few who need to start another round even after a big meal.

Recently, I got the scare of my life when lab test results revealed elevated blood sugar levels. Basically means they are higher than normal, but not quite high enough to be considered a sign of diabetes.. yet. I envy those people whose healthy eating just comes easily. My body does not always listen. I only realized it now that I must put an end to my relationship with sweets as it is indeed life threatening.

Although it does not guarantee me or the rest of the family to develop the disease, hereditary diabetes can be a real concern since I had a parent with diabetes who died from it. We should be aware that everyone in the family can develop diabetes, thus each one should have a conscious effort in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. So, what steps should I take to reduce the risk of developing the disease? Keeping an eye on blood sugar levels with constant communication with the doctor. Is it possible in this situation?

Yes. Sanofi, my health journey partner, takes genuine care and love for every Filipino through their holistic healthcare programs and education. Their advocacy is disease awareness with focus on Diabetes, Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease and they are committed to support us even amidst the pandemic. Moreover, they believe that healthcare should be made personal because every patient is different, with their own ways of coping, and their type of diabetes to manage. Your type.

With restrictions on face to face consultations in this pandemic, Telemedicine would make it possible through Sanofi’s WeHealth, an e-health ecosystem. There's also a 360 degrees patients program which helps patients and families along their journey with Diabetes. With Empower Patient Support Program, patients are provided with a free starter kit; free education by Sanofi Diabetes Educators; and Multi- Channel patient support via phone or through the app so they can be connected and supported all the time and doctors can be updated with patient’s progress by accessing the online blood glucose diary. Empower is a long term program with continuous follow up for 1 year. This will help improve patient adherence and bring them towards a better life with diabetes.

Sanofi also conducts webinars such as Healthier/PH sessions and partnerships with parenting and health organizations like The Asian Parent’s FamHealthy and BayanihanMD

In preparation for World Diabetes Day on November 14, Sanofi affirms their commitment or Panata to the Filipino family affected by Diabetes by promoting overall wellness (proper nutrition, physical activity, proper healthcare, check-ups, treatments) while solidifying Sanofi’s role in the Diabetes fight. This aims to give everyone an opportunity to live a healthier and normal life - and collectively create a healthier Philippines.

Caring for Diabetes takes a village, it’s a family affair where no one should be left behind. Here's to #HealthierPhilippines

Sanofi is all about empowering the patient and their families because like I do, they believe that family ties play an important role in the management of diabetes.
