Why Hong Kong Should Be Your Next Halloween Escape

2:32 PM

If your idea of Halloween usually involves carving a pumpkin at home or scrolling past costume photos online, it might be time to upgrade your spooky season.

For the very first time, the city is rolling out Hong Kong Halloween Month, turning major districts into open-air celebrations every Saturday from October 17 to 31, 2026.

With the theme Make the Streets Your Runway, this city-wide festival invites travelers to step out of the theme parks and into streets packed with music, massive art installations, and unforgettable energy.

Here is what is waiting for Filipino travelers looking for an unforgettable autumn getaway.

1. Join the Ultimate Cosplay Street Parties

Hong Kong is trading its usual skyline views for a massive Halloween takeover across its most iconic neighborhoods:

Central & Kai Tak: Head to Central for large-scale art installations like giant eyeballs, a mysterious gateway, and a haunted jail, alongside an outdoor music party and a family carnival. Over at the Kai Tak Sports Park Halloween Party, pet parents can enjoy neon-lit photo ops and live busking alongside their dressed-up furry friends.

Lan Kwai Fong: The legendary LKF Monster Mash brings monster flash mobs, roaming cosplayers, and three massive street celebrations: Monster DJ Night, Wizard Block Party, and Monsters Night.

Mong Kok: Stop by Langham Place for the Mong Kok Haunted MiniBus installation—a spooky makeover of Hong Kong's iconic red minibus—complete with themed snacks and limited-edition desserts.

Tsim Sha Tsui East: Dance the night away with local and international DJs spinning tracks against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbor.

2. World-Class Theme Park Frights

If you want the full immersive scare treatment, Hong Kong’s world-class theme parks are delivering their biggest Halloween lineups yet:

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: Dive into Disney Halloween Time, featuring the all-new musical celebration Mickey’s Happy Halloween Adventure, the grand Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party, the award-winning Let’s Get Wicked, plus plenty of trick-or-treat fun and themed treats.

Ocean Park Hong Kong: The annual Halloween Fest features four thrilling scare zones and a massive collaboration with Under the Castle, an original IP by global superstar Jackson Wang that delivers a multi-sensory horror experience.

3. Costumes Mean Free Rides

One of the coolest perks of the celebration? Your costume is your ticket to free transportation.

On October 17, 24, and 31, dressing up in your best Halloween gear lets you ride the iconic Ding Ding Tram (between Causeway Bay and Western Market) and Citybus’s Halloween-themed, open-top sightseeing bus completely for free. The open-top bus stops at all five major street party locations, making it seamless to hop from one celebration to the next without missing a beat.

Ready for Your Halloween Adventure?

Why settle for an ordinary autumn when you can turn the streets of Hong Kong into your personal runway? Dust off your most creative costume, book your flight, and get ready for a spooky season unlike any other.
