Manila Gets Ready for the Biggest Red Bull Half Court Showdown Yet

4:12 PM

Basketball has never been just a game in Manila.

It lives in neighborhood courts, schoolyards, crowded streets and open spaces where players turn every possession into a chance to show what they can do.

This December, that passion will take center stage as Red Bull Half Court brings its 2026 World Finals to Manila, bringing national champions from around the world together for one of the most intense 3on3 basketball tournaments on the global calendar.

On December 5, 2026, the Philippines will welcome elite 3on3 teams competing for the Red Bull Half Court world title, with basketball, street art and urban culture coming together across two very different sides of the capital.

The tournament will begin at the historic Fort Santiago in Intramuros before moving to the modern streetscape of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) for Finals day.

For a country where basketball is woven into everyday life, Manila could hardly be a more fitting setting.

From Historic Manila to the Heart of BGC

The 2026 Red Bull Half Court World Finals will give players and fans a unique view of Manila.

The group stage will take place at Fort Santiago, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Located inside the historic walled district of Intramuros, the venue will provide a striking backdrop as teams fight for a place in the next day’s championship games.

The action will then move to Bonifacio Global City, one of Metro Manila’s busiest modern districts, for Finals day.

With the tournament moving from one of Manila’s historic landmarks to one of its most contemporary urban centers, Red Bull Half Court is set to bring together different sides of the city through basketball.

Paul Gudde, Red Bull Half Court Global Sports Director, said Manila was a natural choice for the global tournament.

“Manila is built for this format. It’s a city where basketball isn’t just watched, it’s lived. Bringing the World Finals here is about connecting the global 3on3 community with a place that truly understands what playground basketball is all about.”

Manila’s Basketball Culture Takes Center Stage

Anyone who has spent time in the Philippines knows how deeply basketball is woven into local culture.

From packed professional arenas to neighborhood courts, the sport has a way of bringing communities together. For Red Bull Half Court, that makes Manila more than simply a host city. It becomes part of the story.

The 2026 World Finals will bring together national champions from 13 countries, creating a global meeting point for some of the best 3on3 players in the competition.

The sixth season of Red Bull Half Court has already taken players through countries including Egypt, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Africa, Sweden and Ukraine, with more national champions joining the global lineup as qualifying continues.

Several teams have already secured their places in Manila.

India’s men’s champions, Team 911, earned their World Finals spot after winning in Chandigarh. Team Sinatra will represent North Macedonia after claiming the national championship in Skopje.

The Philippines will have home representation as JSKILLS secured the men’s national title, while Pilipinas Aguilas won the women’s championship.

Egypt will send Team Hustlers and Bad Luck, with additional teams expected to complete the international lineup.

Basketball Meets Street Culture

Red Bull Half Court is not only about what happens between the lines.

As part of the Manila World Finals, Red Bull is also giving local creatives an opportunity to put their own mark on the tournament through Red Bull Half Court Design My Court.

Local designers, street art enthusiasts and basketball fans are being invited to create their vision for a basketball court and potentially see their design transformed into reality.

Entries open on September 28 and close on October 21.

The project adds another layer to an event that already sits at the intersection of basketball, art and street culture.

For Manila’s creative community, it is a chance to turn a basketball court into something more personal, expressive and distinctly local.

Global Basketball Names Are Coming to Manila

The World Finals will also bring some familiar personalities from the international basketball and streetball scene to the Philippines.

Streetball icon Grayson “The Professor” Boucher will be in Manila alongside renowned shooting coach Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews.

Joining them will be Polish Red Bull athlete and elite dunker Piotr “Grabo” Grabowski, as well as Filipino dunking star David “Air David” Carlos, a FIBA 3x3 World Tour Dunk Contest winner and one of the Philippines’ leading dunkers.

Boucher, who has built a global following through his streetball performances, is particularly excited to return to the Philippines.

“The Philippines is one of my favorite countries to visit because the fans love basketball/streetball culture. I can’t wait to come over for the Red Bull Half Court World Finals to do some park takeovers and see the best 3v3 streetball teams from around the globe. I know the Manila crowd is going to be a vibe and the World Finals out there is gonna be a movie.”

Matthews has also visited Manila several times and says the city’s appreciation for basketball stands out.

“I have been to Manila multiple times and am always impressed by the level of passion for basketball that the athletes have. In particular, there’s a huge appreciation for the art of shooting in Manila. Coming back for Red Bull Half Court is going to be special, you’ve got national champions from around the world coming to compete and represent their countries. I know we’re going to see some great athletes competing at the highest level.”

Fast, Physical and Built for 3on3 Basketball

Red Bull Half Court is designed to keep the action moving.

Games are limited to 10 minutes, with the first team to reach 21 points winning the game. That short format leaves little room for slow starts or wasted possessions.

During pool play, the team that records the most scoring points earns the “Own the Court” bonus, giving teams another incentive to attack from the opening possession.

There is also another twist waiting beyond the arc.

Two special three point scoring circles create additional scoring opportunities, adding a risk and reward element that can quickly change the momentum of a game.

The result is a version of 3on3 basketball that rewards speed, shooting, decision making and the ability to perform under pressure.

A Global Tournament With a Manila Finale

Since launching in 2021, Red Bull Half Court has taken its World Finals to some of the world’s most recognizable cities, including Rome, Cairo, Belgrade, New York City and Dubai.

Now, Manila gets its turn.

The 2026 World Finals will bring together national champions from around the world while placing them in a city where basketball already has a language of its own.

From the historic walls of Intramuros to the energy of BGC, the tournament is set to offer more than a championship game. It will be a meeting point for international 3on3 basketball, Filipino basketball culture, street art and urban creativity.

On December 5, the world’s best Red Bull Half Court teams will take to the court in Manila with one goal in mind: to become the 2026 Red Bull Half Court World Champions.

And in a city that has spent generations turning basketball courts into stages, the spotlight could not be in a better place.
