Keep calm. Roll out. Multitask. #KITKATBreakMovement
If an octopus has eight arms, a mother like me has a gazillion, only invisible. Moms naturally exude talent and potential when it comes to multitasking.
Although I haven’t quite mastered the skill yet, I feel like it’s been pre-unlocked for quite some time now. Still, here I am, continuing to learn and trying to accomplish everything at once, all for the benefit of my children. Always for my children.
Recently, I even enrolled in a driving school and bought a car. Now there’s no need for a service driver to pick them up early and bring them to school. Worrying has, thankfully, become less constant.
While waiting to take them home after school, I use my spare time to blog, post, and do my own thing on social media. I keep working toward my goals, hoping for a reliable power supply so I can actually get everything done.
In between scrolling through social media, I sneak in time to watch a feel-good movie I’m currently downloading. And yes, tissue, please!
In between all these astonishing undertakings comes the role of a fully recharged tutor mom, coaching the kids through lessons and all sorts of unexpected questions. One hardcore duty!
At the end of the day, with all those chores at your fingertips, you find yourself craving a quick bite and longing for a proper meal, if you’re lucky enough to even have a mealtime amid the chaos.
Multitasking is difficult. When things get tough, there are times when you just want to build an invisible barrier around yourself and not let just anyone in.
If it feels like the world is getting smaller and too overwhelming to handle, and you no longer have any extra “invisible arms” to stretch out, then you’ll likely need something meaningful to help you release it all. Yes, you need to break free.
You see, research suggests that mental energy cannot truly be multiplied through multitasking, it can only be divided or thinned out as it is spread across multiple tasks. In essence, multitasking can negatively affect the depth and quality of your work, as well as your overall well-being.
That’s why it’s important to take a KIT KAT break, to pause, reset, and unlock hidden skills within yourself that help you feel like you can break through the impossible.
