Thick Hair Don’t Care | WEN Steps In to Save the Day

I used to have a gorgeous, thin head of hair back in the 80s. Yes, it was my crowning glory, except on days when the weather got the better of me in the battle with frizz.

After having a child (and then two more), my once-thin, gorgeous hair started to fall out. It would grow back, but the strands became darker, duller, and coarser, then the cycle would repeat.

Whether it was stress, lack of care, environmental damage, or simply stress again, there were days when my hairbrush would be filled with strands every time I brushed my hair. Other times, I could barely brush it at all.

It became more and more noticeable and frustrating, and something had to be done. There was even the temptation of hair rebonding, but I had to carefully consider the risks of that kind of treatment.

I tried almost every conditioner I could find in supermarkets, leave-ins, serums, and miracle blow dryers as well. They may have offered temporary results, but nothing truly worked.

Eventually, I gave up hope. I became dependent on my trusty scrunchie and resigned myself to my new hair situation. Then, unexpectedly, something came along, like an angel passing by, handing me what felt like a small miracle.

Of course, I was skeptical at first. The brand was unfamiliar to me, something I had never heard of before. And as I mentioned, I had already tried almost every hair product advertised on television, none of which worked for me.

Inside the package, I found two WEN Cleansing Conditioners by “stylist to the stars” Chaz Dean, Sweet Almond Mint (350ml) and Pomegranate (60ml).

I decided to try the Pomegranate variant first, holding on to a bit of hope for a hair miracle to happen.

WEN is a revolutionary 5-in-1 formula. According to the brand, it replaces your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler, and leave-in conditioner. Yes, you read that right, you can already save money by using just this one product.

It claims to cleanse the hair thoroughly without lathering or harsh ingredients and is made with natural components.

The WEN Cleansing Conditioner in Pomegranate (60ml) may not be completely clear in appearance, but it has just the right consistency, neither too thick nor too watery.

It also smells amazing, with a fruity scent that’s slightly reminiscent of bubblegum.

The past products I tried were often too heavy and sticky, making them difficult to wash off. I usually had to shower repeatedly just to remove the excess product around my ears and down my neck.

With WEN Cleansing Conditioner, however, it feels just right. Because it is lightweight, it also means you can rinse it off more easily and in a way, you save more water too. Mother Nature might just thank you for it. Teehee :)

The downside? It has a slightly cool, minty sensation that can be felt around the eyes. At times, the cooling effect seems to seep in and causes a mild stinging or burning sensation.

If this happens, simply rinse your eyes thoroughly with cool water, and the discomfort should go away.

After using the WEN Cleansing Conditioner in Pomegranate (60ml), I can honestly say that I’m already in love with the product. There has been a noticeable difference in how manageable my hair has become and that’s just after three days of using this hair miracle worker. I’m not kidding!

As shown in the photo above, I didn’t even use a blow dryer afterward. My hair feels incredibly light, soft, and much easier to handle.

The WEN Cleansing Conditioner in Pomegranate is available at selected SM Department Stores (Beauty Section), including SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Makati, and SM Southmall.
