Whisper Partners with World Vision to Provide Period Protection for Young Girls

For many of us, periods are a natural part of life, but for millions of young girls in the Philippines, menstruation is more than just a biological event—it’s a challenge.

I can relate to the struggles that come with managing periods. As a woman, I’ve faced the discomfort, the anxiety, and the frustrations that come with that time of the month. But what has been even harder for me is watching my daughter experience the same challenges I once did, especially when she doesn’t have the support I was lucky to have.

In the Philippines, millions of young girls face a harsh reality when it comes to managing their menstrual health. A lack of access to sanitary products forces many to use unsafe alternatives—leading to infections, discomfort, and in many cases, girls missing school. But perhaps the most insidious barrier isn’t just about access—it’s the taboo surrounding menstruation itself. The silence, the lack of education, and the shame that often accompany a girl’s period keep them from learning how to manage it safely and with dignity.

This is where Whisper comes in.

Whisper’s Commitment: Period Protection for Young Girls

This Women’s Month, Whisper is taking a stand against this injustice. In partnership with World Vision Philippines, Whisper is stepping up to provide young girls in underserved communities with the period protection they need to live their lives confidently and without fear of missing out on their education.

Through this initiative, Whisper will be donating over 1,000 menstrual pads to communities in Malabon, specifically in the Barangays of Concepcion, Longos, and Catmon. But this effort goes beyond just providing products—it’s about creating a shift in how we view menstruation.

As part of this impactful program, Whisper will also facilitate a menstrual health education seminar. This seminar is designed not only to teach young girls how to manage their periods safely but also to help normalize conversations around menstruation. By addressing these topics openly, we’re breaking down the shame and stigma that too many girls face.

A Message from Katrina Mangubat, Senior Communications Manager of Whisper

"Menstruation should never be a reason for girls to miss out on opportunities," says Katrina Mangubat, Senior Communications Manager of Whisper. "At Whisper, we believe in more than just period protection—we believe in empowering girls to go about their day with confidence, free from worry or shame. This partnership with World Vision is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that girls have the right support to manage their periods safely and with dignity."

Creating Lasting Change

This partnership is not just a one-time effort. Whisper understands that real change comes from consistent support and empowerment. It’s a movement that requires us all to be part of. Together, we can create an environment where young girls are given the tools they need to succeed, free from the worry that comes with menstrual health issues.

So, let’s join hands in breaking the period stigma. Share your story, raise awareness, and support initiatives like this one that help more girls access the protection they deserve.

A Future Where Every Girl Can Thrive

No girl should feel ashamed or unprepared for a natural process like menstruation. With initiatives like this, we can help ensure that every young girl in the Philippines has the chance to manage her period with dignity, stay in school, and build the bright future she deserves.

Let's work together to make sure that period protection isn’t just a privilege—it’s a right.
