Halloween Fun: Let’s Dress Up and Get Crazy!

We love Halloween!

I think it’s totally cool that there’s one day a year when people can dress up as anything they want.

No, I don’t buy costumes for my three kids. Halloween is supposed to be about creating great costumes from things that are readily available, either from your closet or maybe even your kitchen!

Of course, with the help of my trusty glue gun and art paper, we manage to put together our costume resources.

I’ve gathered some Halloween event photos here, and maybe you can grab an idea or two for your next Halloween party.

My DIY The Incredibles Family Costume :)
It was a last-minute idea, and having no talent in sewing whatsoever made it a bit challenging for me. Instead of buying or renting pricey costumes, I got resourceful and gathered things lying around the house that could work perfectly for a costume.

This next one isn’t actually a Halloween costume. They needed animal costumes for their school play, so I asked my mom if she still had my brother’s old birdie costume from when he was younger. Fortunately, it was still intact and available.

My eldest dressed up as a sexy reindeer, and my second as a boar.

My kids wanted to become Minions for a day, so I went to the local market to see if they were selling cartoon beanie hats.

I got three beanies for only ₱250. I also bought Minion plastic eyewear for me and my husband at a local toy shop, six pieces for ₱50 only.

I grabbed some yellow shirts from the closet, and voila, instant Minion family!

This is for a Mickey Mouse-themed party.

We were Pac-Man and Pac-Lady, while my kids dressed up as the trio of ghosts.
We made the costumes using yellow cartolina and old school shirts.

I attended a ToyCon event a few months ago and bumped into these pretty cosplayers, wishing I was one of them.

Cosplay literally means “costume play” dressing up and pretending to be a fictional character, usually from sci-fi, comic books, or anime.

If I get the chance and the budget, I’d love to try a Sailor Moon costume and see if I can pull it off.

Creating a family-wide theme is a great way to get everyone involved and make Halloween a memory for the ages. Most of us also enjoy seeing entire families dressed up in coordinated group themes.

Whatever costume you and your children choose, bringing imagination to life has benefits that last a lifetime.

For kids, it’s all about anticipation, trick-or-treating, and of course, the candy!

For parents, it’s about having fun with their kids and making memories that last long after the day is over.

The true goal is to help the whole family get into the spirit of the holiday.
