A Day in the Life of Queen P

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is as famous for being an all-around beauty queen as she is for being a workaholic celebrity. She wrestles with a full calendar on most days even after her reign from the most prestigious beauty pageant.
"I usually go to work in the morning. And I work all day --- doing photo shoots and shooting for the movie. That's what’s keeping me busy," said Wurtzbach in an interview. "I am lucky because I get to go home by dinner time or just after dinner. So, I haven't been up really late so far. But then that's also good because it gives me some time to spend with my family here at home."

The Filipino-German beauty said that she spends time with her niece Lara after a tiring day.

"I come home and then I gather my thoughts again. I spend time with my niece Lara. Cuddling moments muna kami. We will eat together. If she is still awake, we play together. If I have a day off, I go swimming. I can't really swim but I love the feeling of being in the water. I like to stretch like it's a nice form of exercise. I also love cardio training, boxing," she added.

Wurtzbach has started shooting her comeback movie entitled "The Revengers" with ace comedian Vice Ganda and Kapamilya heartthrob Daniel Padilla in the action-comedy film. It's also her first time to join the Metro Manila Film Festival.

"It's very good. We would get along a lot, pretty well. We joke around while waiting for our take. We have a good working relationship," she said. "Right now I'm doing a dream role, a hero. I like it because it's challenging. I trained for this. It's difficult but I can do it."

With her schedule, Wurtzbach said that she is still hopeful she could attend the finals of the 2017 Miss Universe beauty pageant in Las Vegas on Nov. 26.

"I'm planning it with Miss Universe right now. I hope my schedule will allow it. We have to do the promo for the movie but I think they will allow me even for five days lang just to attend and then come back," she said.

Wurtzbach shared that with her busy schedule, she still enjoys simple activities such as reading and watching TV. "I bring reading materials with me to work. And I also bring Netflix with so that I can watch my favorite TV series while on my way to work or while I am waiting for my turn."

Of the television series, Wurtzbach said: "I really love 'Narcos'. I just finished Season 3. I'm sad because there is still no Season 4. So I'm moving on to a new series. I got suggestions from other people and they say maybe I should start with 'Game of Thrones' because I have actually not seen 'Game of Thrones' and 'Vikings' is also another suggestion. So I'll choose. I'll watch the pilot episodes of both shows and I'll see which one I like."

Social media and video games have also become part of Wurtzbach's life.

"Right now here at home we have 'Just Dance.' I like it because it's fun and it's like exercise. I have on my phone 'Mobile Legends' and word games usually. I am a very good support for 'Mobile Legends.' I have a favorite character. People usually do not choose to be the support character but I like doing that because I am a key player in the game. I think I'm pretty good at that."

Asked about who she plays with, the beauty queen said: "I play with strangers. My account actually has my face on it with the crown pa and it's funny. And then my handle is Queen P. They don't ask. They probably think I'm just a fan. I also spend for the characters also like I buy the new costumes. I am a little maarte with that. I also have online friends, but they don't know who I am. Walang usap usap. We just play."

Wurtzbach, indeed, is one of the most followed Filipino celebrities these days with five million followers on Instagram.

"For me it's not 5M, it's only five. I don't try to think that there are five million people watching. You will get conscious of what you're posting. You'll get mixed reactions. When I post something it's to share, and most of the time it's really just for me.”

"I try to update it every day. If I'm really having a long day and tired, I just don't go online just for the sake of updating. I don't really force myself to smile in front of the camera and just to share something with other people. If I'm not feeling well or if I'm not in the mood, I'm not gonna post. So everything I post is like real, totoo. If I'm happy in my post I'm really happy. I'm not into show-face. So I do try to post everyday if I'm not tired," she said.

With many things going-on in her life now, Wurtzbach also boosts her energy with - chocolates. By now people already know that the country's third Miss Universe from the Philippines has a sweet tooth in real life.

"I have a sweet tooth but most of the time I eat in the house. It's one of my guilty pleasures and a reward like if I did a good job or if I need a boost of energy - chocolate, chocolate, chocolate," said Wurtzbach

But did you know that Wurtzbach was eating sweets even during the finals of 2015 Miss Universe while waiting for the question-and-answer portion of the pageant?

"During Miss Universe also, that's what I did. When I'm feeling low, I eat sweets and them I'm up. During Miss Universe backstage, I was eating sweets because I won't be able to answer the questions if I were hungry. There's glow after you eat something. And you're happy! The other girls don't want to eat. I told them they will not look at your body anymore, they will listen to your answers."

Wurtzbach revealed that she loves Goya products even if she has already tasted a lot of international brands.

"Goya chocolates are really good. I don't understand why there's doubt even if I have tasted many international brands of chocolates. Goya knows the taste of Filipinos when it comes to chocolates," she said.

"It brings me back to my childhood days, it brings me back to my Binibini days. During Binibining Pilipinas, my favorite Goya product is Cookies and Cream. It's really my favorite. At dawn I would even go to a nearby convenience store to buy Goya's Cookies and Cream. Then I would go back to my room and eat the chocolates there."

Wurtzbach's love affair with Goya products started when she tasted the regular Goya Milk Chocolate. "When I first tasted it, I got the Goya Milk Chocolate the one with the nuts and Cookies and Cream. Before, I've always thought the dark chocolate is always bitter. I avoided dark chocolates. When I tasted Goya's dark chocolate, it's not bitter. And dark chocolate is really good for you. It's the only chocolate approved by my gym trainer."

Popular entertainment blogger Perez Hilton also loves Goya chocolates, said Wurtzbach. "I got a message from Perez Hilton and he told me that he wants to try Goya products. So we sent him Goya chocolates and he loved it. He invited me to hang out with him if I will visit LA in the future. My sister also brings with her Goya products to London where she is based."

It's not the marketing strategy or the name of the brand that would make her appreciate the product, according to Wurtzbach. "I've had a lot of choices. I don't think it's about the price tag. Not for me. What's important is what will make you happy."
