Polaris Fireworks from China Wins 12th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition at SM Mall of Asia

The sky over SM Mall of Asia (MOA) erupted in a breathtaking display of color and sound as the 12th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition (PIPC) concluded its five-week run, crowning China’s Polaris Fireworks as the champions.

After years of eagerly waiting to experience it firsthand, I finally had the chance to attend the event, and it surpassed all of my expectations. A huge thank you to SM Mall of Asia for making this dream a reality and giving me the opportunity to witness such an extraordinary pyrotechnic spectacle.

A Global Display Lights Up SM Mall of Asia

From February 15 to March 15, 2025, thousands gathered each Saturday at SM Mall of Asia to witness the world’s finest pyrotechnic teams compete for supremacy. Co-presented by SM Development Corporation (SMDC) and Suzuki, the event was an unforgettable experience for all.

The atmosphere was electric every week, with each show offering a new level of excitement, color, and creativity. I was finally able to immerse myself in the thrill of watching the spectacular pyromusical performances live, and it was nothing short of magical. Each display was more than just fireworks—it was an intricate, choreographed work of art that combined music, light, and fireworks into something truly special.

International Teams Showcase Pyrotechnic Artistry

The competition featured eight international teams, each bringing their unique style and flair to the event. Countries like Austria, France, China, the USA, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Canada participated, along with a local exhibition by the Philippines. The variety of pyrotechnic artistry was awe-inspiring, with each team showcasing their distinct approach to fireworks design and synchronization.

Although I wasn’t able to see China’s Polaris Fireworks performance live, I was fortunate enough to catch displays from other incredible teams, including Germany, who won first place in the previous year’s competition. Their performance was absolutely spectacular—every burst of color and design was executed with precision and flair, showcasing their well-earned title as last year’s champions. It was a truly mesmerizing experience, and I could see exactly why they had claimed the top spot the previous year.

China’s Polaris Fireworks Steals the Show

Although I missed China’s performance, it was clear from the buzz around the event that their show had left a lasting impact. Their display was a masterpiece in pyrotechnic artistry, combining dynamic colors, intricate patterns, and seamless musical synchronization. Even though I wasn’t able to see it firsthand, the energy from the crowd and the praise they received confirmed that it was an unforgettable performance.

Five Weeks of Explosive Entertainment

The event kicked off with a phenomenal opening exhibition by the Philippines’ own Platinum Fireworks, setting the stage for the international competition. Each Saturday brought two pyromusical performances, creating a series of unforgettable nights that lit up the skies.

By the time the grand finale rolled around on March 15, featuring exhibitions by the Philippines and Canada, the excitement had reached a fever pitch. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners. When Polaris Fireworks was declared the champion, the cheers and applause that followed could be heard echoing across the bay.

A Resounding Success and the Promise of More Magic in the Future

The 12th PIPC was a resounding success, not just because of the awe-inspiring performances but because it highlighted the power of pyrotechnic artistry to unite people from around the world. As the final fireworks faded into the night sky, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to have witnessed such an extraordinary event.

As I left SM Mall of Asia that night, I couldn’t wait to see what future editions of the PIPC would bring. The 12th PIPC had created unforgettable memories, and I knew that the event would continue to captivate and inspire audiences for years to come.
