A simple shift in color can spark a meaningful conversation.

On October 10, Okada Manila illuminated its Crystal Corridor in blue, joining the Light Up Blue for Mental Health Campaign to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and remind people that mental wellbeing deserves attention and care.

Led by the resort’s Human Resources Division in partnership with the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. (PMHA), the initiative supports World Mental Health Day and Mental Health Awareness Month. From 7 PM to 8 PM, the blue illumination transformed the Crystal Corridor into a visible expression of solidarity with the mental health advocacy movement. Okada Manila team members were also encouraged to wear blue in support of the campaign.

Beyond the lights, the initiative carried an important message: mental health matters, and no one should feel alone when seeking support.

Okada Manila Champions Open Conversations About Mental Health

For many people, talking about mental health can be difficult. Creating a supportive environment begins with making these conversations more open, approachable, and part of everyday life.

“At Okada Manila, care for wellbeing is an important part of how we support our team members. Through Light Up Blue and our other initiatives this Mental Health Month, we hope to help make mental wellbeing a more visible and everyday conversation,” said Atty. Jerome Sarte, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Okada Manila.

He added that mental health awareness becomes more meaningful when people feel comfortable speaking openly, seeking support, and looking after one another.

Through the campaign, Okada Manila aims to reinforce a workplace culture where team members feel encouraged to prioritize their wellbeing and reach out for help when needed.

A Month of Mental Health and Wellness Activities for Team Members

The Light Up Blue campaign is part of a broader lineup of mental health and wellness activities scheduled throughout October. Each initiative offers team members opportunities to learn, reflect, connect, and take practical steps toward better wellbeing.

The month’s activities began on October 1 with OkadaGLOW: Mind – Advocacy Session, which encouraged greater awareness and discussion of mental health.

From October 19 to 21, Okada Manila will partner with Bofill Psychological Services (BPSi) Clinic to conduct Onsite Psychological Consultation, providing team members with another avenue to access mental health support.

The resort will also hold Wellness Wednesday: Yoga Session on October 21, offering an opportunity to incorporate movement and mindfulness into everyday routines.

On October 23, Paint Your Peace: Mental Health Through Colors will invite team members to explore self-expression as another way to support emotional wellbeing.

Together, these activities reflect a broader approach to workplace wellness, combining mental health education, professional consultation, physical activity, and creative expression.

Okada Green Heart Places People and Wellbeing at the Center

Okada Manila’s mental health initiatives fall under Okada Green Heart, the resort’s sustainability and social impact platform. Under its Safety, Security and Welfare pillar, the program supports efforts that promote the safety, health, and wellbeing of its people while advancing its commitment to caring for people and the planet.

By bringing mental health awareness into the workplace, Okada Manila continues to highlight the importance of creating an environment where wellbeing is taken seriously, conversations are welcomed, and support is easier to seek.

The Light Up Blue campaign serves as a reminder that meaningful change can begin with small but visible actions. From illuminating a shared space to providing access to wellness activities and psychological consultations, every initiative contributes to a culture that recognizes the value of mental health.

As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, Okada Manila remains committed to supporting its team members through programs that encourage healthier habits, greater understanding, and a stronger sense of community.
