Honoring Kasambahays for Their Dedication and Service Across the Philippines
Trusted Pillars of Filipino Households
This year marked the 10th anniversary of the Kasambahay, Kasambuhay Awards (KK Awards), a celebration of the Filipino household workers whose daily dedication keeps families strong and communities resilient. Organized jointly by the Palawan Group of Companies and JCI Senate Philippines, the program highlights the vital role kasambahays play in shaping the foundation of Filipino homes.
The decade-long tradition brought together kasambahays, their employers, and families for a heartwarming celebration of service, loyalty, and commitment. A total of 20 outstanding kasambahays from the 2024 and 2025 award cycles were recognized for their years of dedicated service. Each honoree received ₱100,000 in cash and a TESDA scholarship, which they can use personally or share with loved ones, providing opportunities for skill-building, livelihood growth, and personal development.
The 2024 awardees include Beth Papa, Randy Ballena Tapel, Ellen Rose Mabanta, Lyrie Jean Embang, Rowena Duque Brimon, Luzviminda Camitan, Baby Marecres Brazal, Lourdes Varquez, Mari Rose Batacao, and Wencesa Flores.
The 2025 honorees are Adelaida Caquilagan Cabagua, Maria R. Rubia, Rosalinda Resco, Ma. Victoria F. Enero, Arceli Buling, Kent Lemuel Holoyohoy Pahimutang, Jean Gapol Macarayo, Judith Caras, Ma. Lyn Alipo-on, and Crystal Gale Pallugna.
Karlo M. Castro, President and CEO of Palawan Group, highlighted the values behind the initiative:
"Kasambahays are the quiet heroes of Filipino homes. Their work brings stability, safety, and peace of mind to families every day. Through this program, we want them to know they are seen, valued, and truly appreciated."
With a 40-year legacy, the Palawan Group has become one of the Philippines’ most trusted pawnshop and remittance companies. Kasambahays have long been a valued part of their customer base, relying on services like pawning, remittances, and mobile load. The KK Awards stand as a testament to Palawan Group’s commitment to honoring this community, alongside innovations like PalawanPay, one of the fastest-growing e-wallets in the country that makes managing finances easier and safer for everyday needs.
Mylene M. Dayrit, National Executive Vice President of JCI Senate Philippines, added:
"Through the Kasambahay, Kasambuhay Awards, we honor kasambahays as everyday leaders whose tireless commitment uplifts families, strengthens communities, and sets an example of loyalty, care, and responsibility. Their work may often go unseen, but it shapes the foundation of our homes and society."
For the first time, the KK Awards also recognized Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) serving as household helpers, celebrating their resilience and dedication despite being far from home. Nomination submissions were made easier through PalawanPay, allowing employers, families, and friends to nominate honorees anytime, anywhere.
Angelita M. Castro, Deputy Chairman and co-founder of Palawan Group, shared:
"Iba ang aruga ng Pinoy, makikita ito sa kung paano inaalagaan ng mga kasambahay ang pamilyang kanilang pinaglilingkuran, na para na rin nilang sariling pamilya. At Palawan Group, our philosophy is simple: uplift communities by uplifting individuals. Kasambahays who help build stronger families and resilient communities deserve to be honored and given the chance to grow."
Through sustained recognition and meaningful support, JCI Senate Philippines and Palawan Group continue to honor kasambahays, empowering individuals, strengthening families, and fostering a culture of gratitude that transforms lives nationwide.
