Security Bank Foundation Gifts Brand-New Classroom Building to Antique National School
Students of Antique National School now have access to modern, safe, and spacious classrooms, thanks to a generous donation from the Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI).
The foundation officially turned over a newly constructed, two-storey building with eight classrooms as part of its flagship Build a School, Build a Nation program. For decades, Antique National School faced overcrowding, with eleven sections squeezed into makeshift rooms separated by thin partitions. “Students and teachers alike had to compete with noise and distractions while trying to learn,” said School Principal Roger Jomolo.
As an alumnus, Jomolo described the donation as deeply meaningful. “Security Bank’s generosity warms my heart. It’s incredible to see our alma mater transformed into a place where future leaders can thrive.”
A New Chapter for Students
The new building is more than just a structure; it symbolizes hope and opportunity for learners. “This building expands our home and brings new hope, giving students the space they need to focus, grow, and dream,” Jomolo added.
Grade 11 student Laica Shane Fernandez knows the value of such support firsthand. Despite financial difficulties and a devastating fire that destroyed her school materials, Laica continued her education by selling handmade polaroids and school supplies. “Even with all the challenges, I became more motivated to work harder so we could recover what we lost. Now, with these classrooms, I can focus on learning without distractions,” she shared.
Strengthening Education, One Child at a Time
During the turnover ceremony, SBFI Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr. emphasized the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to education. “We believe our actions demonstrate how dedicated we are to improving the education of Filipino youth, one child at a time. Some may see the challenges as overwhelming, but persistent effort truly makes a difference,” he said.
Since its inception, Security Bank Foundation has donated 877 classrooms to 150 schools across 91 cities and municipalities, helping ease overcrowding and enhancing learning environments for countless students nationwide.
