Shell NSAC 2026 Opens Doors for Young Filipino Artists to Turn Everyday Moments Into Powerful Art
For nearly six decades, the Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC) has helped shape the future of Philippine art by giving young creatives a platform to share their stories, perspectives, and talents.
Now in its 59th year, the prestigious competition returns with a timely and thought-provoking theme: “SULYAP.”In a world filled with distractions and fast-moving trends, SULYAP invites student artists to slow down and take a second look. It encourages them to find meaning in the details often overlooked and transform ordinary moments into compelling works of art.
As the country's longest-running student art competition, Shell NSAC has become more than just an annual contest. Over the past 58 years, it has served as a stepping stone for countless Filipino artists, helping them gain recognition while nurturing their creative voices. Through the years, the program has connected students, educators, art institutions, and industry leaders in a shared mission to support the next generation of creative talent.
This year's theme challenges participants to go beyond surface-level observations and engage more deeply with the realities, emotions, and personal stories that shape their view of the world. Whether inspired by everyday life, social issues, cultural identity, or personal reflection, artists are encouraged to create works that speak with honesty and purpose.
At its core, Shell NSAC celebrates storytelling through art. Every entry becomes an opportunity for students to express who they are, what they value, and how they see the world around them. The competition continues to empower young Filipinos to share their perspectives while contributing to the country's vibrant and evolving cultural landscape.
