Acer Academy and Benilde Power Deaf Education Through Technology and Inclusion
Acer Academy Philippines has joined forces with De La Salle College of Saint Benilde to strengthen Deaf education through technology driven learning.
The partnership supports the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies SDEAS, a Benilde program committed to inclusive and high quality education for deaf Filipino learners. As part of the collaboration, Acer Academy donated five Acer TravelMate laptops to SDEAS. The devices will help students access online learning platforms, complete academic requirements, take part in blended learning, and build essential digital skills that improve future employability. With reliable laptops in hand, students can engage more confidently in coursework designed for today’s digital classrooms.
Education remains a core focus for Acer in the Philippines. According to Sue Ong Lim, Managing Director of Acer Philippines, the company’s commitment goes beyond hardware. Acer Academy already counts more than 400 members nationwide and continues to expand partnerships that support students, including those with disabilities. The collaboration with Benilde also opens opportunities for immersion programs and long term engagement that nurture real world skills.
For Benilde, the partnership reinforces its mission to make education accessible to all. Marian Patricia BEA Francisco, Dean of SDEAS, said the initiative strengthens digital capacity across the Benildean community, promotes skills development, and supports inclusion. Technology, she emphasized, plays a key role in leveling the playing field for deaf learners.
Angelo Marco Lacson, Vice Chancellor for Academics of DLS CSB, highlighted that Benilde serves students from diverse backgrounds, many of whom face financial challenges. The institution actively seeks partners, benefactors, and donors like Acer to help extend educational opportunities to underprivileged learners, persons with disabilities, and students with special learning needs.
Acer Academy Philippines is designed to help schools, colleges, and universities integrate technology into education. The program provides devices, software, training, and ongoing support to build digital classrooms, improve digital literacy, and encourage innovation in teaching and learning.
