SM City Masinag and LRTA Sign MOA for LRT 2 Antipolo Station Interconnection Access Bridge

SM Prime Holdings Inc and the Light Rail Transit Authority LRTA have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the construction of the SM City Masinag–LRT 2 Antipolo Station Interconnection Access Bridge, marking a major step forward in improving commuter access and urban mobility in Antipolo City and nearby areas.



The MOA signing ceremony was held at the concourse of the LRT 2 Antipolo Station and brought together key officials from LRTA SM Supermalls and the Department of Transportation. The project answers a long standing need for a direct and safe pedestrian link between the train station and SM City Masinag since the station opened.


Once completed the interconnection access bridge will provide a secure covered and convenient walkway for commuters traveling between LRT 2 Antipolo Station and the mall. It is designed to improve daily commuting by offering weather protected access that reduces walking distance enhances safety and improves overall pedestrian flow along Marcos Highway.


LRTA Administrator Atty Hernando Cabrera emphasized that the project highlights the importance of public private partnerships in delivering real benefits to commuters. He noted that the bridge will enhance safety accessibility and efficiency for passengers while improving the overall transit experience.


SM Supermalls Vice President for Mall Operations Engr Junias Eusebio shared that the bridge is designed with the Filipino commuter in mind especially those who rely on public transportation and park and ride facilities. He added that the interconnection supports inclusive mobility and walkability benefiting senior citizens persons with disabilities families and workers while also helping ease traffic congestion reduce pedestrian spillover and lower carbon emissions in line with SM’s sustainability goals.


Also present at the ceremony were officials from the DOTR and LRTA including Engr Jomar Lua OIC Director IV of the Rail Standards and Enforcement Office Ms Evelyn P Janeo OIC for Business Development and Public Relations of LRTA and Atty Ronald Redentor De Veyra Head Executive Assistant of the LRTA Administrator. SM Supermalls executives in attendance included EVP for Marketing Joaquin San Agustin Senior AVP for Mall Project Management Egbert Lim and Senior AVP for Operations Ronald Allan Brosas underscoring the strong collaboration between government and the private sector.


Construction of the SM City Masinag–LRT 2 Antipolo Station Interconnection Access Bridge is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026 with completion expected within six months. The project forms part of the New Era of SM Supermalls which focuses on seamlessly connected thoughtfully designed spaces that support sustainable urban living.


When completed the interconnection access bridge is expected to improve pedestrian safety encourage greater use of public transport along the Marcos Highway corridor and provide long term benefits for the growing Antipolo community while making daily travel more convenient for thousands of commuters and shoppers.
