What I Learned from the Samsung Digital Appliances Cooking Workshop + Recipes :)
Last week, I was fortunate to be invited to a cooking workshop conducted by Samsung Digital Appliances, held at Gala Stars Culinary on Shaw Blvd., with other blogger friends.
We definitely learned a lot from famed culinary star and Samsung Digital Appliances Ambassador Chef Ernest Gala, with the help of the Samsung refrigerator and Samsung smart oven. Our theme for the second cooking workshop was “Weekday Warrior: Prepare Restaurant-Quality Dishes Every Day.”
I learned new techniques on how to make delicious and healthy recipes the easy way. We had so much fun at this cooking workshop!
The session was very hands-on. My cooking partner Rochelle and I did everything, from cooking, to baking, to washing up. Chef Ernest Gala is a great teacher and very approachable.
We were even able to bring home the dishes we prepared during the workshop.
My kids especially loved the S’mores!
At this workshop, the cooking techniques were easy to understand, yet the dishes still turned out very exquisite.
Overall, the cooking workshop went very well and was exactly what I think a cooking workshop should be, fun, social, instructive, hands-on, and not overly complicated.
So now, dear readers, I’ll be sharing the recipes of the dishes we learned that day. Try one of these recipes tonight with the help of your handy Samsung Smart Oven—I’m sure your kids and hubby will love you even more! :)
Recipe 1: Pork Steaks with Mushroom Sauce
A. Ingredients:
- 250 g butterfly-cut pork chops (about 2 pcs.), pounded well on both sides with a meat mallet. Cut each piece in half down the center to make 4 pieces
- 1/4 tsp each rock salt, pepper, and dried thyme
- 1/2 cup canned cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup fresh full-cream milk
- 1/2 cup sliced button mushrooms
- 2 tbsp butter
For garnish: Parsley sprig
B. Procedure:
- Season pork steaks with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Arrange on a microwave-safe dish.
- Mix the soup and milk in a small bowl using a fork or small wire whisk.
- Pour the mixture over the pork steaks. Carefully top with sliced mushrooms and dot with butter. Cover with cling wrap.
- Set the Samsung Smart Oven to microwave mode and cook on high for 10 minutes. Leave covered with cling wrap until ready to serve.
Recipe 2: Parsleyed Baby Potatoes (Accompaniment to Pork Steaks)
B. Garnish:
1 tbsp chopped parsley
C. Procedure:
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the potatoes.
- Dot with butter.
- Set the Samsung Microwave to high.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes or until done.
- Top with chopped parsley.
Recipe 3: Mini S’mores (Dessert)
A. Ingredients:
- 8 pairs of graham crackers
- 24 chocolate chips
- 8 white marshmallows
B. Procedure:
- Place 4 pairs of graham crackers on a paper plate.
- Top each with your desired amount of chocolate chips.
- Add a marshmallow on top.
- Set the Samsung Smart Oven on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the marshmallows just begin to puff.
- Remove from the oven and top each with the remaining graham crackers.
