What's new: Check out the best burgers at Burger Brewster in Lilac

5:30 PM

If you live on the eastern side of Metro Manila, then you’ve probably already heard and read plenty about Lilac Street in Marikina.
Google it — the results page will be full of posts and reviews of good food and the best hang out places perfect for students and employees alike.
If you're food-obsessed (like me)but don't have the disposable income (like me), the streets in Lilac are now bursting with small restaurants serving up affordable incredible food to those with a big appetite(like me).
Recently, me and the foodies did a round to dig out the best of the best in Lilac.
There were no hesitations whatsoever when I got an invite to try out one of the best burger houses in Lilac.
I live nearby so it's not much of an effort to go there.
Burger Brewster in Lilac corner Kanlaon, is a place that is hidden in plain sight unless you know exactly what it is.
I have actually passed this place countless times at night and I thought it was just an ordinary burger house and honestly, I'm not a burger fan so it was out on the food bucket list.
But destiny tells me that it's time to check it out.
The reviews don't lie, people!
Burger Brewster is truly a hidden gem, I can assure you.
I don't even like burgers, but their burgers tasted sooooo good.
Make sure you come very hungry because their burgers are B I G...Huge.. it won't fit your mouth and you’d need to use both hands to really get a grip on them... or use a fork and knife instead.
They opened in October just last year, despite not having any formal culinary training, it didn't stop them from making good food.
At first, it was just them and the Jucy Lucy burgers, but Tejal and Ivan came up with a great idea and opened their very first burger house which is the Burger Brewster.
As you can see, the place is quite small, so the seating arrangement is very close to one another.
Intimate.
If you find yourself with an hour to kill in the neighborhood, there's picnic bench-like seating for some people watching and good conversation with friends under the stars.
We have tried a variety of burgers here but the most remarkable was the Jucy Lucy which is priced at p195.
Seriously, try their bestseller The Jucy Lucy and you'll know what I'm talking about.
The price for this baby is crazy low for a patty that is really good quality and fresh.
The Jucy Lucy patties that are 100% pure premium beef with melted cheese in between.
It is cooked to a perfect medium well with pickle slices, caramelized onion and garlic mayo.
I asked them if  their buns are toasted with butter..indeed they were, to make it tasty and yummier.
That's actually my secret when I toast the bread at home. The kids love it.

So here's a thing : They will constantly remind you to never put anything like ketchup or mayo to fully enjoy the quality of the burgers.
They want you to experience the perfect taste of their burgers, minus the ketchup.
Got it? Good.

So , what's the story behind the Jucy Lucy : They told us about one certain foodie in Minnesota that wanted to elevate his/her gastronomic appreciation of burgers to another level.
So that person created burger patty with melted cheese core and after tasting it, that person was exclaiming "That's one Jucy Lucy!" constantly.
The Jucy was just a typo at the print shop years ago. They never changed it.
This is the Shroom Zoom, my friend, which is priced at p140.
It's a quarter pounder with 100% pure premium beef.
No, they don't buy their meat in a local meatshop or supermarket.
Their beef has a subtle sweetness to it when you taste it. You can guarantee the total freshness. Not frozen from the grocery.
It has cheese slice , pickles ,lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions and garlic mayo.
The tomato was hiding in there somewhere.
Since the place is meant for groupies and barkadas, they have this "to share burgers" ,which are served in a skillet.
The one we tried was the Fil-Am Cross-Over, which is priced at p240.
It is a double quarter pounder cheesy burger patty with chicken liver sisig and 3 cheese pops.
I'm not a fan of liver so I instantly tasted it. Kind of overpowering for me. But it's healthy so no need for you to worry.
The crunchiness of the pops complemented the melted cheese inside. The taste was divine!
The Chick'NBerg is a quarter pounder with 100%  chicken meat patty with cheese slice, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions & garlic mayo.
For p125 pesos, you can enjoy this with the kids because of the chicken.
They won't mind the layers of healthy stuff in there because of the chicken , I tell you.
Everything I tasted in there has never failed me.
Their homemade beefy fries, which is priced at p65 are just ordinary fries but seasoned with secret ingredients topped with cheddar cheese sauce.
I'm not a fan of cheddar cheese. I'd rather have plain fries with my soda. But I loved the seasoned part of the fries.
I wonder what the secret ingredients are?
And now I'm drooling.
Who doesn't love vanilla ice cream??
I think anything paired with vanilla ice cream could lead to a magical result.
Just pure bliss on the taste buds!
This ice cream bun is delish, which is priced at p65.
They also serve Brews and Beverages like this one..
For only p80, you'll have a cold mocha latte, just perfect for this kind of weather.
At Burger Brewster, they offer only premium-made, cooked-up-on-order, and hand-moulded patties to ensure only the tastiest burgers.
Great variety and value, you'll appreciate every single order that is presented in front of you.
Give them time (10 to 20 minutes max) to prepare the burgers , but i guarantee you, it's worth the wait!
