New SM Cinema San Mateo Opens on Friday, May 15

Earlier today, we witnessed the grand launch and blessing of the 51st branch of SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc., the newest addition to SM Cinemas, SM Cinema San Mateo.

For all movie lovers out there, it officially opens tomorrow, May 15, 2015.

Mr. Hans Sy of SM Prime Holdings shared his excitement about bringing a new and dynamic entertainment destination to San Mateo and the surrounding areas in Rizal. With an exciting lineup of films this year, they look forward to offering local residents the biggest blockbusters and hosting engaging events.

SM Cinema San Mateo features four cinemas with a total seating capacity of 1,240, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable movie experience for everyone.

SM Cinema, known for its interactive and advanced theaters, has once again raised the bar by finally introducing Winema—the first and only interactive cinema in the Philippines.

Winema stands for “We Interact With Cinema,” offering a more engaging and immersive movie experience for viewers.

I remember attending its initial launch a few years ago, though it almost didn’t push through at the time, making its debut now even more exciting.

So, how does Winema work?

A motion-sensing camera is installed inside the theater, allowing moviegoers to interact directly with the screen. By simply waving their hands in the air, they can control characters and participate in on-screen games, making the whole experience fun, active, and engaging for the audience.

We were fortunate enough to try the game ourselves, together with the SM bosses.

To win a prize, we had to beat the highest score of 35 but it was harder than it looked.

This one-of-a-kind feature will now be a permanent attraction at SM Cinema San Mateo.

So bring the kids and the whole family, because SM Cinema continues to offer a unique and memorable experience for all its customers.

And you all thought that Mr. Hans Sy is one tough big boss who does nothing but intimidate the people around him, well, see for yourself.
