AIA Philippines and BPI AIA Turn Health Protection Into Hope With Support for Children Battling Cancer

For many Filipino families, a critical illness diagnosis brings more than medical challenges.

It can also bring emotional stress, financial pressure, and uncertainty about the road ahead. Recognizing the need for stronger protection and meaningful support, AIA Philippines and BPI AIA Life Assurance Corporation (BPI AIA) are extending their commitment beyond insurance by helping children with cancer and their families through a partnership with the Kythe Foundation.

Formerly known as Philam Life, AIA Philippines, together with BPI AIA, the bancassurance partnership between the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and AIA Philippines, recently launched their newest health insurance solutions, AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect. To celebrate this milestone, both companies are making a donation to the Kythe Foundation to support programs dedicated to pediatric cancer care.

The initiative reflects AIA’s mission of helping Filipinos live healthier, longer, and better lives by transforming protection into a source of hope for communities that need it most.

Building Stronger Protection Against Critical Illness

With healthcare expenses continuing to rise, many Filipinos are looking for insurance solutions that provide more comprehensive support beyond a single critical illness diagnosis.

AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect were designed to address this growing need by offering multi claim critical illness coverage. Policyholders may receive benefits for up to three major critical illnesses, along with protection for early stage conditions, flexible coverage options, and coverage that can continue up to age 100.

These solutions aim to provide families with greater financial confidence during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Supporting Children With Cancer Through Kythe Foundation

As part of the launch, AIA Philippines and BPI AIA will provide a donation to the Kythe Foundation in the name of customers who purchase AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect. The contribution will help strengthen programs that support children with cancer through medical assistance, psychosocial care, patient navigation, therapeutic play, caregiver support, emergency aid, and child friendly spaces.

The donation will help enhance Kythe Foundation initiatives at the National Children’s Hospital and Philippine Children’s Medical Center, providing young patients and their families with additional resources as they navigate their healthcare journey.

A Partnership That Goes Beyond Financial Protection

“This collaboration helps us bring to life AIA’s Purpose, helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, in a deeply meaningful way, extending our contributions to the communities we serve. By supporting Kythe Foundation, we help enable vital psychosocial care and patient support programs that empower children with critical illnesses and give their families greater strength and resilience throughout their healthcare journey. We feel there is no better way to mark the launch of our new health products AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect,” said Melissa Henson, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Philippines.

Founded in 1992, Kythe Foundation pioneered Child Life Services in the Philippines, helping pediatric patients cope with hospitalization through play, emotional support, and family centered care.

The donation will contribute to important programs such as emergency and treatment funds for patients, psychosocial support kits for newly diagnosed children and their families, and improvements to Kythe’s safe spaces at partner hospitals.

Helping Families Find Strength During Difficult Times

For Kythe Foundation, every child represents more than a medical condition. The organization focuses on supporting the emotional, social, and psychological needs of young patients while helping families remain strong throughout treatment.

“At Kythe, we see every child beyond their diagnosis. We see their courage, fears, and hope,” said Magdalena Lopez, Executive Director of Kythe Foundation. “We are grateful for our partnership with AIA and BPI AIA, whose commitment to supporting Filipino families goes beyond financial protection. Their support helps us care for children with cancer and chronic illnesses not only by addressing their physical needs, but also by supporting their emotional well-being and that of their families.”

Through this partnership, AIA Philippines and BPI AIA demonstrate that insurance can be more than a financial safety net. It can also become a way to create lasting positive change for families and communities.

Customers who purchase AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect will be informed that AIA Philippines and BPI AIA have made a contribution to Kythe Foundation on their behalf, at no additional cost to their premium.
