PLDT High Speed Hitters Eye Another Winning Run as Rested Squad Returns Stronger for PVL On Tour 2026
After making history with their first-ever regular season podium finish in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference 2026, the PLDT High Speed Hitters are back with renewed energy,
a refreshed mindset, and an upgraded roster as they begin their title defense in the PVL On Tour 2026 preseason tournament.Following months of intense competition that ended with a hard-earned bronze medal, the High Speed Hitters embraced a well-deserved break. But while the players stepped away from the court, their focus never drifted far from volleyball. Every moment of rest became part of the preparation for another promising campaign.
PLDT High Speed Hitters Recharge After Historic PVL Bronze Finish
The 2026 All-Filipino Conference marked a milestone for PLDT as the team captured its first podium finish in a regular PVL season. Their journey was fueled by determination, resilience, and composure against some of the league's toughest opponents.
With the demanding season finally behind them, the team shifted its attention to recovery, giving both body and mind the opportunity to reset before returning to competition.
Head coach Rald Ricafort believes striking the right balance between training and recovery is essential to sustained success.
"We highly prioritize the balance between the work that we put in since the preseason and the rest needed after every conference," Ricafort shared.
Although he enjoys staying active through pickleball and tennis, Ricafort also values quiet moments at home, spending time studying international volleyball trends while catching up on his entertainment favorites, including One Piece on Netflix.
Recovery Looks Different for Every High Speed Hitter
Every player found a unique way to recharge during the offseason, proving that recovery extends beyond physical rest.
Veteran setter Kim Fajardo focused on mental wellness, using the break for reflection and quality time with loved ones.
"It's a time for self-realization," she said.
When she's relaxing, Fajardo enjoys watching travel-inspired series like Somebody Feed Phil, combining entertainment with her love for new cultures and destinations.
Outside hitter Kiesha Bedonia centered her offseason on complete recovery, emphasizing the importance of quality sleep, stretching, and light movement.
"We need to prioritize sleep, do light movements like walking and stretching," she explained.
Away from volleyball, Bedonia revisited One Piece, drawing inspiration from its memorable characters and themes of loyalty and perseverance.
Opposite hitter Jessey De Leon found balance by returning to her passion for architecture and creative projects.
"I really enjoy doing creative work whenever I feel inspired. It helps me reset and feel like myself again outside of the sport," she shared.
When not designing or spending time with family, De Leon fully embraced downtime by binge-watching Better Call Saul and enjoying guilt-free relaxation.
PLDT Strengthens Lineup Ahead of PVL On Tour 2026
Now fully recharged, the High Speed Hitters return with an even stronger roster as they prepare to defend the PVL On Tour championship they captured last year with an unbeaten record.
Leading the team's new additions is opposite spiker Jessa Ordiales, who brings added firepower to PLDT's offense.
"Transitioning to a new team is exciting, but I've learned that the best way to get ready for the next challenge is to truly unplug at home," Ordiales said.
"I love keeping it simple: good food, family time, and catching up on the series I've missed during the season."
Another exciting addition is rookie setter Fianne Ariola, the eighth overall selection in the first round of the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft after an impressive collegiate career with the Perpetual Lady Altas.
"Being a rookie in this league is a huge transition, so I'm really making sure I use this time to reset properly," Ariola shared.
"Recovery for me right now is all about staying relaxed, binge-watching my favorite shows, and mentally preparing for the work ahead."
Former Galeries Tower Highrisers setter Winnie Bedaña also joins the squad, bringing youthful energy and a strong desire to contribute.
"Joining PLDT is an opportunity I'm truly grateful for. This is a team with a strong winning culture and a passionate organization behind it. I'm excited to learn from my teammates and contribute in any way I can," she said.
Adding more depth to the wings is former University of the Philippines captain Joan Monares, whose leadership and all-around game strengthen the High Speed Hitters even further.
"Stepping into the pro ranks with a team as competitive as PLDT is definitely a dream come true, but it's also a big adjustment," Monares admitted.
"My favorite way to recharge is to keep things quiet. Whether it's getting enough rest, listening to music, or spending time with family, it helps me clear my mind so I can give my best every time I step onto the court."
Veteran Leadership Powers PLDT's Next Chapter
While PLDT recently bid farewell to setter Anj Legacion and middle blocker Zeth Perolino, the team's experienced core remains firmly in place.
Veterans Kath Arado, Savi Davison, Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, Kim Kianna Dy, and the rest of the High Speed Hitters continue to provide leadership, championship experience, and stability as the team's new faces settle into their roles.
The blend of seasoned stars and emerging talent positions PLDT as one of the strongest contenders entering the 2026 preseason.
