Solane Strengthens Filipino Communities Through AlabKalinga Community Kitchen Initiative

A simple invitation echoed throughout Brgy. Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo: "Ma'am, tikman niyo po."

More than an offer to sample a home-cooked meal, it reflected the warmth, generosity, and bayanihan that brought neighbors together during the launch of Solane's AlabKalinga Community Kitchen on June 28.

The free community initiative gathered more than 70 households for a day of cooking, learning, and meaningful conversations, proving that food has the power to unite people while helping families navigate everyday challenges.

Bringing the Spirit of Bayanihan Back to the Table

As many Filipino households continue to feel the impact of rising living costs, preparing nutritious home-cooked meals can become increasingly challenging. Through the AlabKalinga Community Kitchen, Solane is helping ease that burden by providing practical cooking knowledge, introducing affordable LPG solutions, and equipping families with essential kitchen resources.

More than promoting safe cooking, the initiative creates opportunities for neighbors to reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen community ties through shared meals and shared stories.

Throughout the event, participants swapped favorite recipes, shared cooking techniques, sampled each other's dishes, and celebrated the joy of preparing food together. The welcoming atmosphere reminded everyone that even the simplest meals can create lasting friendships and stronger communities.

Safe Cooking Knowledge That Empowers Families

Education was at the heart of the AlabKalinga Community Kitchen.

Residents participated in hands-on demonstrations highlighting the benefits of cooking with LPG, showing how it offers a faster, cleaner, and more efficient way to prepare everyday meals.

Marcus Dubria, Plant Manager of Solane's Leganes Plant, led an informative discussion about the advantages of LPG and its proper use in Filipino households. The learning sessions were further reinforced by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which conducted practical safety demonstrations covering proper LPG handling, emergency response procedures, and essential household safety reminders.

The activity helped participants better understand how safe cooking practices can protect their families while making meal preparation more convenient.

Affordable LPG Options for Every Filipino Home

One of the day's most meaningful moments came from a participant who shared that she had always wanted to switch to LPG but believed it was beyond her family's budget.

During the program, she learned about Solane's 1.4kg LPG cylinder, a more accessible option designed for smaller households. The introduction of this affordable alternative helped reshape her perception of LPG, not as a costly purchase, but as a practical investment that offers convenience, safety, and peace of mind.

Her story reflected the experiences of many families who are looking for smarter and more affordable ways to manage household expenses without sacrificing quality of life.

Practical Support Beyond the Event

The AlabKalinga Community Kitchen was designed to deliver benefits that extend far beyond a single day of activities.

Participants received practical cooking knowledge, safety education, and take-home essentials that they can continue using in their daily lives. The program aims to help families cook more safely, make informed decisions about LPG use, and better manage household expenses.

According to Pia Isabelle Bernabe, Senior Brand Manager of Solane:

"AlabKalinga reflects Solane's commitment to supporting Filipino families in ways that go beyond providing safe cooking solutions. We want to create spaces where communities can learn, connect, and strengthen the spirit of bayanihan. When families feel safe and empowered in their everyday lives, they can focus on what matters most, caring for one another and building a better future together."

Brands Unite to Support Filipino Families

The success of the community initiative was made possible through the collective support of Home Essence, Masflex, Hanabishi, WOW Pasta, Le Minerale, Mega Sardines, and Solane.

Participants received loot bags filled with useful household items and had the chance to win raffle prizes, providing additional support for their families beyond the event.

The collaboration showcased how brands with a shared commitment to helping communities can create a greater impact by working together and promoting the Filipino value of bayanihan.

Building Stronger Communities One Meal at a Time

Through the AlabKalinga Community Kitchen, Solane continues to demonstrate that meaningful change often begins with simple acts of kindness.

By bringing families together around food, promoting safe and responsible cooking, introducing affordable LPG solutions, and encouraging neighbors to support one another, the initiative goes beyond the kitchen. It helps build stronger relationships, empowers communities with practical knowledge, and reinforces the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan.

As AlabKalinga reaches more communities across the country, Solane remains committed to helping Filipino families create not only warm meals, but also stronger, safer, and more connected neighborhoods.
